It’s hard to be an astronaut’s son. Everyone expects you to be _____. I’m just a normal eleven-year-old kid. My father is so good at everything. I often wonder _____ my father ever had a son like me.

One morning, my teacher announced a Father’s Day essay(散文) competition for the whole school. What would I write? My father is an astronaut I would start out with that. No.I decided I wouldn’t do that. The whole country and maybe even the whole _____ saw my father as an astronaut, but that wasn’t the way I saw him.

How did I _____ my father? Hmm.

I saw him sitting with me in the dark when I was little and had a nightmare. I saw him teaching me how to throw a baseball.

I remembered him bugging me for hours when my dog was killed by a car. And I remembered how he _____   me with a new little dog at my eighth birthday party. These were the things I was going to write about my dad. To me, he wasn’t _____ a world-famous astronaut, he was my dad.

On Thursday night, the winning essays would be _____ in the hall with all the parents and students present. It was me!I went up to the stage and read my essay “My Father's Son.” I watched my parents as I read.

Once upon a time, there lived a teacher in a small town. He often taught his students in special ways. Once he told four of his students to go to a small farm to see apple trees in different seasons. The first student went in winter, the second in spring, the third in summer, and the last in autumn. After the four students came back, the teacher called them together. They described their feelings to the teacher. The first student said that there were no leaves on the trees. It made him very disappointed. The second student said his eyes were full of light green. The last one shook his head. He only saw a lot of apples on the beautiful trees. The teacher smiled and told his students that none of them were wrong. They each just saw one season. He continued, “The trees are not the same in different seasons. You can’t judge (判断) a tree by only one season. Don’t let the regret of one season destroy the beauty of the rest.”

Everything has different sides in our life. Don’t hurry to make a conclusion (结论) before you see the whole of it.

Chinese people love to eat because they think having meals together is the best way to communicate. They think lots of dishes on the table can show that they live a comfortable and rich life.     46    

Now the Chinese government is asking people not to waste the food at any time.     47    Some restaurants are doing what they can to help people to reduce food waste.     48     Wang Mei, a famous woman, says, "We shouldn't order more food than we need, and sometimes we can order a half so that we won't waste." She always orders just the enough food she needs.    49    

Some people like eating up everything on their plates.We call it cleaning the plates.Wu Li does it for many years.She says, "    50     However, many people throw away the whole chicken or fish." Cleaning the plates is not only to save food, but also to protect the environment.Most importantly, it is also good for our health.If we can eat properly, we will not have so many health problems.

As you know, coral is not a plant, but an animal. However, coral reefs(珊瑚礁) around the world are in     61    . Here is a piece of bad news. Thailand will close one of its beaches to protect its coral against business     62     for tourists. The beach is so famous that     63     tourists put it on their wish lists. More than 5, 000 visitors visit it a day. They arrive by boat. This does great harm to the coral reefs. Most of the coral has died. The beach was     64     between June and September to let the coral come back to life.

Experts say that 80% of the Thailand's coral reefs have been killed in     65     years. Too many tourists causes a lot of     66     to these beaches. An expert said, the     67     problems were hotels by the beaches, boats, and plastic wastes in the sea. He believed the best choice was to close the beaches forever. He said, “I hope the government can take steps to protect the coral reefs. At the same time, I also hope all of us should try     68     best to protect the environment around us.”

We need animals. Every animal has its place in the balance (平衡) of nature. We should try to help save the animals.

Some people think zoos are good places. The zoos give the animals the comfortable and safe living places. If the animals get hurt or ill, people will take care of them. The zoo is a good place to know the rules in the wild world. We can be much closer to nature. We can know more about the animals in the zoos by watching, listening even smelling instead of just looking at the pictures in books.

Some people don’t think animals feel happy in the zoos. Animals like pandas, wolves and bears usually live in the wild. They play and find food by themselves. They are free and happy in the wild (野外). If they are in the zoos, food is enough and rooms are comfortable. They do not need to do their best to find food to eat or places to stay in. They just walk around, sleep day and night, but they are not free at all. I think we should build national parks as wild life nature reserves (保护区) to protect animals. If we do nothing, animals will get fewer and fewer.

Pain causes problems. We’ve all been hurt by another person at one time or another. This pain causes problems. It not only causes us to be unhappy, but can break relationships, distract (使分心) us from work and family and other important things, make us unwilling to open up new things.

Learn to let go and to forgive(原谅). We need to learn to let go. We need to be able to forgive, so we can move on and be happy. Forgiveness does not mean you erase(抹去) the past, or forget what has happened. All it means is that you try to forget the anger and pain, and move on to a better place. It’s not easy, but try to do it.

Think of the advantages of forgiveness—how it will make you happier, free you from the past and the pain, and make your relationships and life better.

Try to understand that person. Try to understand why the person did what he did. What could he have felt as he did it, and what did he feel later? How does he feel now? You aren’t saying what he did is right, but are trying to understand instead.

Realize that we are not victims (受害者). Try to think over how you could have been partly responsible for what happened. It doesn’t mean taking responsibility away from the other person, but realizing that we are not victims but participants (参与者) in life.
