Life for children is much different from before. Children used to (过去) eat a lot of healthy food such as fish, rice, vegetables and fruit. Now they are eating a lot of fast food like fried chicken, hamburgers and French fries. Fast food is high in fat and salt. It is not good for children’s health.

Children now are drinking more sweet drinks like Coke and Sprite instead of (而不是) fruit juice and water. Children are also eating more chocolates and sweets before.

Teenagers today spend hours sitting at a computer. Some teenagers even stay up late. They do many things on smart phones till midnight (午夜) so they are often tired the next morning and they sometimes feel sleepy in class. But they used to play a lot of outdoor sports and games, so they woke up fresh and fit, ready for an active new day.

People of all ages, especially(尤其) children, need a healthy diet, lots of exercise and enough rest. Let’s stop all bad habits and do our best to keep healthy.

Parents often believe that they have a good relationship with their teenagers (青少年). But last summer, Joanna and Henry noticed a change in their elder son: suddenly he seemed to be talking far more to his friends than to his parents. “The door to his room is always shut.” Joanna noted.

Parents who know what’s going on in their teenagers’ lives are in the best position to help them. To break down the wall of silence, parents should create chances to understand what their children want to say, and try to find ways to talk and write to them. And they must give their children a mental break, for children also need freedom, though young. Another thing parents should remember is that to be a friend, not a manager, with their children is a better way to know them.

How to teach yourself? The first thing you must do is reading. Read something you are     61     in. The second is that you must ask yourself questions.
