Here are some games that can help improve English.

Word Whomp

In this game, you’re given six letters and you need to think about how many words can be spelled with those letters. You have two and a half minutes to think of every word. With some practice, it can be a fun way to improve your English vocabulary. You’ll get some good practice by quickly thinking of English words-a skill that will be useful in real-life English conversations.

Bananagram

This game can be played with many people. Every player takes a number of letter tiles. Then they start using these letters to build words. Once you use all of your letters, shout “Peel”. And at that moment, every other player must take another tile from the pile (堆). The last one to run out of his tiles will lose the game. This game can help you practice reading and spelling.

Every player takes turns to pull one word out of the bowl and describe the word to his teammates.

Sleep plays an important role in brain (大脑) development. Children should get enough sleep.

29     A study says that because of being short of sleep, it is much harder for children to do something carefully. And also they become forgetful and easy to make mistakes. Another study shows that the right amount of night-time sleep is just as important for children’s development as healthy eating and taking exercise.

30     In general, a younger child needs more sleep than an older one. Children at the age of 5—11 will need 10—12 hours of sleep a night while children at the age of more than 11 will need fewer hours.

In fact, many parents don’t know how to help their children get enough sleep. Here is something you can do. For children at the age of 5—11, a 30—40 minutes’ routine (常规) before sleep is helpful.     31     In the activities, children relax and enjoy themselves a lot, and they will go to sleep more easily.

Children at the age of more than 11 may go to bed late in the evening, talking with friends online, playing games or watching TV.     32     And even they will be tired during the day. So limit (限制) your children’s use of the Internet, games and the TV before they go to bed.     33

A.If not, many problems will come to them.
B.Why does a child need so much sleep?
C.How many hours of sleep is enough for a child?
D.So they will find it difficult to get up in the next morning.
E.It includes a bath, reading a story together and so on.
F.And don’t allow them to have a computer or TV set in their bedroom.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了人类对月亮探索的发展过程。
阅读下面短文,根据其内容填空和回答问题。(1至4题每空不超过3个词,5题回答问题。)

Humans have always been interested in the moon. About 2, 000 years ago, scientists had already known that the moon moves around the earth and where it would be in the sky at different times of the year. In old times, everything about the moon was learned by watching it carefully at night.

When scientists could use telescopes (望远镜) to study the moon more closely, they found the moon was made of rocks. Most scientists thought moon rocks would be different from those on earth. This was because they believed the moon had once been a planet that was caught in the earth’s gravity millions of years ago.

In 1969, moon rocks were finally brought to the earth and studied. Much to their surprise, scientists found that, except for water, the moon and the earth were made of the same things. Once again, new ideas were needed for this new study.

After years of study, most scientists now think that the moon was once part of the earth. They believe very early in its history, maybe 4 million years ago, something that was about the size of Mars hit the earth. This sent billions of rocks into space around our planet. These rocks slowly joined together and after many years became the moon.

Humans’ steps of exploring the moon will never stop. In the future, even though our ideas about the moon may change again, we’ll still show an interest in it.

34. At first, most scientists thought moon rocks were ________ from earth rocks.
35. ________ were finally brought to the earth to study in 1969.
36. Now most scientists think the moon once belonged to ________.
37. People will never stop ________ and they’ll still be interested in it.
38. How did people learn about the moon in ancient times?
