We sometimes have the wrong ideas about the things around us, for example, some things about cats that people believe might not be true. These myths (荒诞的说法) can make cat owners confused (困惑的). Let’s learn the truth about them.

Some people think that cats need to drink milk. That is not true. If a cat eats well, it does not need to drink milk. Does your cat drink milk? Most cats like milk, but too much of it can make them sick. They can only have a little milk.

Some people put garlic in cat food. They believe it will keep worms (寄生虫) away from a cat’s body. Does it work? No, it does nothing to worms. It will give the cat bad breath! If your cat has worms in its body, take it to see a doctor. The doctor will give medicine to the cat.

Some people think that a cat’s whiskers (须) can help it keep balance (平衡). In fact, whiskers have nothing to do with balance at all. They help the cat know about things around.

Have you heard these myths about cats before? Don’t believe them. Cats need good owners to care for them. It’s a good idea to learn how to care for cats by reading books or talking to experts.

Many children go to the zoo on October 4 to see elephants, monkeys and tigers because that day is World Animal Day.

Now, more children like animals and want to make friends with them. In the zoo, they learn about animal life. They don’t need to go out to show their love of animals. They have pets (宠物) at home.
