A crow (乌鸦) lived in the forest and was very satisfied with his life. But one day he saw a swan (天鹅). “This swan is so white,” he thought, “and I am so black. This swan must be the happiest bird in the world!”
He expressed his thoughts to the swan. “Actually,” the swan replied, “I was feeling that I was the happiest bird around until I saw a parrot, which has two colors. I now think it is the happiest bird in the world.” The crow then came to the parrot. The parrot explained, “I lived a very happy life until I saw a peacock which has many colors.”
The crow then visited the peacock (孔雀) in the zoo and saw that hundreds of people had gathered to see him. After people had left, the crow came to the peacock. “Dear peacock,” the crow said, “you are so beautiful. Every day thousands of people come to see you. When people see me, they immediately shoo me away. I think you are the happiest bird on the planet.”
The peacock replied, “I always thought that I was the most beautiful bird on the planet. But I am trapped (困住) in the zoo. I have examined the zoo very carefully, and I realize that the crow is the only bird not kept in a cage. So for the past few days, I have been thinking that if I were a crow, I could happily travel everywhere.”
That’s our problem too. We do not value what we have. This all leads to the cycle of unhappiness. There will always be someone who has more or less than you have. A person who is satisfied with what he has is the happiest person in the world.

Lulu, a Hungarian(匈牙利的) student at Tsinghua University, first came to Beijing in 2017. She soon fell in love with the city. Her favorite place to hang out is the hutong of Beijing. She also found her greatest hobby—Peking Opera.
The first time she saw Peking Opera was at an opera museum. “I found it really amazing,” she said. “The outfits(服装) were, of course, fantastic, and the movements were so amazing. The face-painting was something I’d never seen before. It is so different from Western opera.”
Out of interest, she joined the Peking Opera group of Tsinghua University. That made her see that Peking Opera is much more than just the looks. “There is really, really huge cultural and historical background, which is very important in Peking Opera.”
The group’s members practice twice a week. Mostly, they practice singing and movements. The biggest problem Lulu had was learning the Asian way of singing. “In the beginning, my throat(喉咙) used to hurt, because I was using my voice in the wrong way,” she said. But with the help of teachers, she has improved a lot.

Open an app, place your order, and wait for your food to be delivered. This is how many young people eat in China these days. According to the latest data (数据), about 421 million Chinese people use online food delivery services. That’s just half of the total number of Internet users in China.
