May Flower Kindergarten (4 years-6 years)-class schedule

Thank you for your email and the photo of New York. Here are some photos of my family trip in Wuhan. In the first picture, my sister Jane is wearing traditional Chinese clothes on the Yellow Crane Tower. In the second picture, my father and I are swimming in a river. It’s so cool! In the next picture, my parents, Jane and I are eating great noodles named hot dry noodles. They taste very nice! In the last picture, my family are at my friend’s home. We are having some mooncakes because it’s the Mid-Autumn Festival. It’s an important festival in China. On this day, all the family get together and have a happy dinner. I think Wuhan is a nice city in China. The people there are friendly. One day I wish to go there again.

Nick is like (像) many other boys in his town. He goes to school, does his homework, has fun with his friends and likes to do sports. But in his free time from Monday to Friday. Nick does something different. He makes dinner for his mom, dad, brother and sister. They all like the food Nick makes for dinner.

“I think it’s ________ for children to learn how to cook (做饭). It isn’t only parents’ work,” Nick’s mother says, “Children need to learn school subjects, but they also need other life skills (技能) to help them in today’s world. I teach Nick how to make some easy meals. Now he can use recipes (食谱) in books to make dinner.”

“I love cooking and I think I’m really good at it. No friends around me can cook. I don’t know why. It’s not difficult and it’s great fun!” Nick says.

At first, like other children, Nick is kind of lazy and doesn’t help with the housework at home. So his mom isn’t happy with him. But now, things are different.

Many people say dolphins are intelligent. They can learn, think, and understand things quickly. Scientists say sometimes dolphins show they are really smart, just like humans (人类). How?

Talk

Like humans, every dolphin has its “name”. The name is a special whistle (口哨). Every dolphin chooses a whistle as (作为) its name, usually by its first birthday. Dolphins like to “talk” to each other about a lot of things-such as their age, their feelings, and danger around. Understanding dolphin’s talk is not easy for humans. No one can "speak dolphin"yet, but some scientists are trying to learn.

Play

Dolphins live in groups and they often join other dolphins from different groups to play games and have fun-just like people. Sometimes they run after other dolphins carrying things and throw these things back and forth. Scientists believe playing together is something only intelligent animals do.

Teamwork

Dolphins and humans are similar (相似的) in another way: They both make plans for getting things they want. In the seas of southern Brazil, for example, dolphins use an intelligent way to get food. When there are fish near a boat, dolphins will signal (示意) to fishermen. With the dolphins’ help, fishermen can catch a lot of fish. In return (回报), dolphins can get some to eat.

In England, a lot of families move their houses near the public schools,     36     Some rich people like living in the countryside, so their kids have to go to school by subway.

In America, most schools are in town. Kids near town can walk or ride bicycles to school. In some big cities, a few school buses always wait at the bus stop.     37    

“Water city” Venice in Italy is a real water city.     38     So kids have to go to school by boat.

    39     So students never walk to school, Some students from rural areas or remote villages may study at home, and teachers teach them by using the Internet.

Canada has many good private schools.     40     Because schools are quite far away from their houses. Only a few children go to school on the sled (雪橇).
