A lady wanted a birthday gift from her husband. For many months she had liked a beautiful ____, and knowing her husband could _____it, she told him that was all she wanted. On the morning of the birthday , her husband told her how _____he was to have such a good wife, and how much he loved her. He gave her a beautiful gift package (纸盒). She opened it and found a Bible. _____, she raised her voice and said to her husband, “With all your money, you give me a Bible?” She was so upset that she left him.

Many years passed and the lady was very _____ in business. She owned two large companies. She __ her husband was very old, and thought perhaps she should go to visit him. But before she could, she_____a letter telling her that he had died, and gave all of his possessions (财产) to her. She needed to come back and take care of things. 

When she arrived at his house, sadness filled her heart. She saw the still new ____ , just as she had left it years before. With tears , she opened it and began to turn the pages. A ring ______from the Bible to the floor and a card could be seen. She picked it up and found it was the ring she wanted in those days. And on the card was the date of her birth, and the words “LOVE U ALWAYS”. ___ your gift is not packaged the way you want it, it’s because it is better packaged the way it is! Always appreciate little things; they usually lead you to bigger things! The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched for they must be felt with the  heart  .

A little stream(小溪）ran down from a high mountain far away. It went through many villages and forests. Then it reached a desert. The stream then thought, “I overcame so many difficulties. I should have no problem crossing this desert !” But when she decided to start her journey, she found herself gradually disappearing into the sand. After many tries, she still failed.“Maybe it’s my destiny(命运) ! I’m not destined （命中注定）to reach the vast（广阔的） ocean in the legend（传说）, ”she thought sadly to herself.

At this time, a deep voice came, saying, “If a breeze（微风） can cross the desert, so can a river.”It was the voice of the desert. But the little stream replied, “That’s because a breeze can fly, but I can’t.” “That’s because you stick to what you are. If you’re willing to give it up, and let yourself evaporate （蒸发） into the breeze, it can take you across, and you can reach your destination(目的地）,” said the desert in its deep voice.

The little stream had never heard of such a thing. “Give up what I am now and disappear into the breeze? No! No!”She could not accept this idea. After all, she had never experienced anything like it before. Wouldn’t it be self-destruction（自毁）to give up what she was now ?

“How do I know if this is true?” asked the little stream.

“The breeze can carry the vapor（蒸汽） across the desert and let it leave as rain . The rain will form a river again ,” answered the desert .“Will I still be what I am now?” asked the little stream.“Yes, and no. Whether you’re a river or vapor, your nature never changes. You stick to the fact that you’re a river because you don’t know your inner nature,” answered the desert.

Hearing this, the little stream went into the open arms of the breeze（微风）. which carried her to the next stage of her life. Perhaps you can try asking yourself these questions: What is my inner nature? What is it that I cling （紧抓） to? And what is it that I really want ?

Everyone wants to relax after working or studying for a long time. I have many ways of relaxing myself. Let me tell you some of my favorites.

I am a big sports fan, so the usual way I relax is to watch or play many kinds of sports. My favorite is tennis,（1） 但是我对各种各样的运动感兴趣. Whether I am playing tennis or watching a game on TV, it is exciting to see team members doing their best. It’s amazing to see players playing very well. It’s true that playing sports is not physically(身体上地)“relaxing”, but I find it really cool, and a good way of “relaxing” my brain after a day’s hard work.

I enjoy listening to music, and I always have some music playing during my free time. I listen to all types, but I enjoy listening to beautiful piano music. Some people can’t study while listening to music, but for me, I believe I can study better by listening to light songs.

Some people choose to relax by traveling. I don’t have a favorite place, but I hear that traveling in Japan is really enjoyable. I like visiting different kinds of places and eating famous snacks there. I also enjoy sightseeing and seeing how the culture and people change from place to place.

Once there was a boy named Shankar. He made a living by selling ____. One day，when he was collecting wood in the forest，he saw an old man who was very hungry. Shankar wanted to give him some_____, but he didn't have any. After some time，he saw a giraffe who was very ___. He wanted to give him some water，but he didn't have any water，either. So he had to___his way. Then he saw a man who wanted to build a house，___he did not have any wood. Shankar gave some of his wood to him. In return, the man____him some food and water. Quickly Shankar went back and helped the old man and the giraffe. Both the old man and the giraffe ____him a lot. Then，Shankar went on his way happily.

However，soon Shankar fell down a hill. He was badly hurt and couldn't move.____，the old man and the giraffe who he had helped saw him. The old man pulled him ____the hill and the giraffe brought him some herbs. After some time Shankar got well and _____walk again. All were very happy that they could help each other.
