Everyone has worries. But what do you do with your worries? Whether your worries are big or small, you can take these steps to do with them.

Try to find out what you're worried about.

Maybe you know what you're worried about. But if you don’t know, try to find it out first, if you can't, you can ask for help.

Think of ways to make it better.

You can always find something to help you feel less worried. It’s not helpful for you to solve your problem if you only sit there worrying.

For students at school, grades are often a top worry. If you are worried about grades, ask yourself these questions:

※Why are grades important? What do grades mean to me?

※How do I get ready for class? Do I go over my notes even when there isn’t a test?

※Do I have a good place to do my homework?

※Have I tried different ways of studying?

If your worry is to lose a friend after a fight, you might write down all the things you could do-write a note to him or her, invite him or her to a basketball game, say sorry to him or her, etc.

Once you have a list of things you could do, you can choose the one that gets your friend back.

             Ask for help.

When you’re worried, it can help to find someone to talk to.You can ask your parents, friends, or teachers for help.

I remember the green coat in my fifth and sixth grades. When I needed a new jacket, my mother asked what kind I wanted. I described something like bikers wear. She listened long. I thought she understood for sure the kind I wanted.

The next day when I got home from school, I discovered, on my bed, a jacket which was not what I had expected. I went close to the jacket slowly, as if it were a stranger.

From the kitchen mother shouted that my jacket was in the closet. I rushed and pulled at the clothes in the closet, hoping the jacket on the bed wasn't for me but my brother. No luck, I wanted to cry because it was so ugly and so big. But I knew I'd have to wear it for a long time before I'd have a new one. I looked at the jacket, like an enemy, thinking bad things before I took off my old and small jacket.

I put the big jacket on. I stood in front of the mirror, turning right and left. I looked ugly. I threw it on my brother's bed and looked at it for a long time before I put it on and went out, smiling a "thank you" to my mom.

The next day I wore it to school. At the morning break, my best friend, Steve, looked at me for a long time. The girls turned away to whisper. The teachers looked my way and talked about how foolish I looked in my new jacket. When it was time for the whole school to get together on the playground, ________. Although they didn't say out loud, "Man, that's ugly!" I heard their talk and even laughter.

And so I went in my jacket. So embarrassed, so hurt, I couldn't even do my lessons the rest of the day. I received Cs on tests. I wore that thing for three years. All in those years no love came to me.

I blamed (指责)that jacket for those bad years. I blamed my mother for her bad taste and her cheap ways. It was a sad time for the heart. Anyway, I spent my sixth-grade year, looking forward to something good to happen to me.

And it was about that time I began to grow, still in that green ugly jacket, which had become my brother who went along wherever I went.

8. The writer went to school in the new jacket because _______.
A.his jacket was too old and smallB.his brother asked him to do so
C.he wanted to show it to his friendsD.he would act in school play
9. The sentence that shows the writer cared about his mother's feelings is " ________".
A.I thought she understood for sure the kind I wanted
B.I blamed my mother for her bad taste and her cheap ways
C.I put it on and went out, smiling a "thank you" to my mom
D.From the kitchen mother shouted that my jacket was in the closet
10. Which of the following sentences can be put in the_________.
A.it began to rainB.everyone saw meC.my mother cameD.I got angry
11. The changes of the writer's attitude (态度) to the jacket can be described as ________.
A.enemy→stranger→brotherB.brother→stranger→enemy
C.stranger→brother→enemyD.stranger→enemy→brother

Let's have a look at a future dairy (奶制品) farm in Washington D.C, where a robot is milking cows. It's time for the robot to milk the cows. The cows are standing in line and waiting for their turns at the robot.

Johnson is the owner of the farm. All that he needs to do is to watch a computer screen to inspect the progress of the animals. The door opens, and the cows walk in and get milked. The door opens and the cows walk out. All is done by the robot.

The robot finds each teat — a place on the cow where milk comes out, with a laser (激光). The teat is cleaned and connected to a milking tube. Any possible pollution can be tested by the robot. If a problem is found, the robot throws the milk away. When the robot finds the amount (量) of milk coming out of the cow slowly, it knows to stop, and sends the cow on its way.

Many dairy farmers in the United States, Britain and Australia now like milking robots which milk the cows twice a day, early in the morning and late at night. The robots milk the animals every day in good or bad weather. Many farm owners say that the life on the dairy farm has been changed a lot and both the owners and workers are allowed to do other things on the farms.

Mr. Johnson doesn't even need to watch his cows on the farm. He can watch from his computer. On the computer, he can know when the cow was milked and how much she produced. He can also know if a cow has not been milked for a long time.

The milking robot is technology which costs a lot. Mr. Johnson spent over $150,000 on it. But he also paid a lot of money for someone to milk the cows in the past.

Mr. Johnson thinks it is well worth paying the money for milking robots. With the robot, Mr. Johnson can turn his attention to other things. He gets about 475L of milk a day, and he doesn't need to touch a cow.

C.It makes the work easy.D.It takes time to control it.
15. Which is the best title for the passage?

Going to a boarding school is a new experience full of excitement of the unknown. Socialization is a big thing for students and it is common to feel a little uncomfortable going into a situation where everyone is a stranger. You may probably miss your friends from former schools. Trying actively to find new friends can help ease (缓解) the feelings of being lonely. A boarding school is a great chance to make new lifelong friends. The question is: How?

    16

You may find you have lots of things in common with your roommate, but even if you are completely different from each other, with a little effort and understanding the two of you may become best friends.

    17

If you leave your door open, this shows that you welcome visitors. As a result, people will naturally stop in and say hello. Closed doors are not likely to bring many visitors and those who stay locked up in their rooms may give others the impression of being cold. Other students will be less likely to stop in and build a new friendship.

    18

Getting involved in organized socialization is a great way to meet new people. It also helps you get more familiar with the campus. By staying active in school groups such as clubs and organizations you can meet lots of people with whom you share common interest.

    19

Get to know your classmates as you'll be spending several months with them. Starting conversations in class is a great chance to meet people who are interested in the same kind of studies as you are. Short friendly discussions can build lifelong friendship.

    20

If you're athletic, trying out for a sport will do for you the same thing as joining a club will do. You will instantly meet a large group of people who share your interests in sports.

A.Close the door to keep away from theft.
B.Leave the door open sometimes to welcome the potential friends.
C.Join clubs or organizations.
D.Get to know your roommate.
E.Try out for a sport.
F.Talk to classmates.
