Dog Laws Keep Us Safe
遛狗拴绳入法,这件事为什么重要?
Taking your dog for a walk can be fun to do. But it can also be a danger to others. People in Beijing and Shanghai are already asked to keep their dogs on a leash(绳子). There will be a similar law across the country. It’s listed in the newly amended(修订的) Animal Quarantine Law(《动物防疫法》). The law will come into effect(生效) on May 1.
The law mainly prevents rabies(狂犬病). The rabies is mainly carried by dogs. The law makes it clear that anyone who keeps dogs must regularly vaccinate(给…接种疫苗)them. Those who walk their dogs outdoors must keep their dogs on a leash to prevent them from hurting people or spreading disease. Or they will face a fine.
In the past, the dog owners decided whether to vaccinate the dog. This meant that if someone was bitten by a dog, they would have to go to a hospital and get treated and vaccinated immediately. Actually, it’s more meaningful to vaccinate dogs than humans.
Many other diseases can also spread between animals and humans. According to experts, 70 percent of animal diseases can be passed on to humans. And 75 percent of all new infectious(传染性的) human diseases come from animals, China Daily reported.

Now the Vieira children are adults, and they sometimes travel to Spain to visit their family and friends. But they cannot communicate with them. Unfortunately this is common. When people move to new countries, they often leave their own customs and mother language behind. This is a mistake because there are many benefits (优点,益处 ) to knowing more than one language. The first advantage is that you can communicate more directly with more people around the world. You do not need to depend on others to talk for you, so you’re independent. People who know only one language must need others to help communicate.
What’s more, speaking a second language also allows people to experience other cultures and customs more effectively (高效地). Local expressions, vocabulary, and even jokes can make a big difference to a person’s understanding of another language. So, knowing more than one language widen your knowledge of other cultures.
Finally, having more multi-language speakers improves relationships between countries. If people from different countries can communicate well, the world can become closer and more peaceful. Countries will then have more respect for each other and understand each other’s problems better.
The benefits of knowing more than one language are clear. In fact, there are almost no disadvantages. It is very sad that many people don’t try to learn another language. It is even worse when people forget their own mother language and become silenced.

If money was everything, all millionaires (百万富翁) would have true love, true friendship, good health and a long life. However, this is not always true.
Nothing else is more pleasant than the three words which are “I love you”. But can love be bought? I’m afraid not. Love means to give, not to take. To every person, health and a long life are probably the most valuable things. Well, can health and a long life be bought with money? The answer is “No”.

One afternoon, something on the Internet caught my eye: a tiny hedgehog (刺猬) held by a hand. The post read: “HELP! My hedgehog didn’t take care of her baby, and I cannot raise it because I have to go to school fulltime. Good home with experience needed as soon as possible!”
I had no experience with baby hedgehogs, but I had raised cats, dogs, and birds. It touched me that he was not taken good care of. And maybe I could love him and be the best mom for him.
I wrote the most heartfelt (诚挚的) email I could. That was how I found my Louie. True to my word, he was my baby. It seems that Louie didn’t know he was a hedgehog. He never curled (蜷缩) into a ball, and he liked my two cats, no fear. The cats, however, were afraid of him, as he often moved into the room, running after the cats and blocking my way.
He helped me realize my dream of hedgehog photography, a hobby that began during childhood with cats and dollhouses. I love showing off his photos.
Life has meaning because of the purpose we have. Louie needed a good home and mom, and in return, I got to be a good mother and be needed. Hedgehogs require great amounts of patience, trust, and knowledge—but the payoff (回报) is pretty great.
