Listening test is one of the most important parts of the English exam. Here are some tips for you.

Before you start to listen, you need to relax. Don’t be stressed out. And try to read the questions. These questions usually help you understand the conversation or the passage.

Then listen carefully to the first sentence. It usually tells you the main idea of the passage. When you’re listening, try to take some notes, such as:

What happened

When, where, and how

What does the speaker want to tell us

In this way, you may understand the passage better. Please remember not to think about one or two words for a long time. When you hear some words you don’t know, don’t spend too much time on them. Very often, you’ll find out what they mean later when you go on with the listening.

1. We should listen to the first sentence carefully, because it usually tells us ________.
A.the answers to the questionsB.the main idea of the passage
C.where to write the answersD.how much time left (剩余) for the listening test
2. When you’re listening, it’s important for you to ________.
A.take some notesB.remember every word

【推荐1】If you imagine the top of Qomolangma, you might think of a quite, snowy place far away the noisy world. But a surprising photo, taken by mountaineer Nirmal Purja, shows in face it was much crowed. Mr. Purja’s photo has shocked the world—along with the tragic(悲剧性的)news that seven climbers died when climbing Qomolangma in the past week.

“Normally, it’s crowded,” says one local guide, and he added that in order to reach the top, climbers sometimes will have to wait in a line between 20 minutes and 1.5 hours. “If the weather is good for a whole week, then the top isn’t crowed,” he continues, “but when there’s only two or three days that are safe to climb, the top gets very crowded.

Getting crowded means danger. First of all is the danger of falling, “there can be two lines of people—one going up, and one going down the top,” he says, “Everyone’s life depends on this one rope.” Another danger is when you have to wait in line, it is possible that you will run out of oxygen so you can’t breathe or won’t have enough oxygen when you go down the mountain.

Professional climbers say that crowds on Qomolangma have increased in recent years mainly because expeditions(探险)have become more popular. Andrea Ursina Zimmerman, an expdition guide who reached the top of Qomolangma in 2016, says that many “traffic jams” are caused by climbers who are not well prepared or do not have the physical condition for the journey. This not only puts those climbers’ own lives in danger, but the lives of the guides taking them up the mountain. However, it is on May 25th, 1960 that the first 8 Chinese climbers reached the top, which became the pride of our great mother country, China.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文,讲述了肢体语言是最强大的语言。文章从身体的各部分,如手臂、头、腿、姿势和脸等方面阐述了肢体动作比语言表达出更多的含义。

【推荐2】Body language is the quiet, secret and most powerful language of all! It is said that our body movements communicate about 50 percent of what we really mean while words only express 7 percent.

So, while your mouth is closed, your body is just saying…

Arms. How you hold your arms shows how open and receptive you are to people you meet. If you keep your arms to the sides of your body or behind your back, this suggests you are not afraid of taking on whatever comes your way. Outgoing people generally use their arms with big movements, while quiet people keep them close to their bodies. If someone upsets you, just cross your arms to show you’re unhappy!

Head. When you want to appear confident, keep your head level. If you are a monitor in class, you can also take on this position when you want your words to be taken seriously. However, to be friendly in listening or speaking, you must move your head a little.

Legs. Your legs tend to move around a lot more than normal when you are nervous or telling lies. If you are at interviews, try to keep them still!

Posture. A good posture makes you feel better about yourself. If you are feeling down, you normally don’t sit straight, with your shoulders inwards. This makes breathing more difficult, which can make you feel nervous or uncomfortable.

Mouth. When you are thinking, you often purse your lips. You might also use this position to hold back an angry comment you don’t wish to show. However, it will probably still be noticed, and people will know you’re not pleased.

Face. When you lie, you might put on a false face. But that expression would crack briefly, allowing displays of true emotions such as happiness, sadness, disgust and fear to come through.

1. If you want to appear confident, you should ________.
A.move your arms a lotB.keep your head level
C.move your head a littleD.cross your arms
2. What can we infer from the passage?
A.Different people in different countries must have the same understanding of the same body movement.
B.Body language can express more real meanings than words do in communication.
C.We cannot communicate with others without words.
D.It’s not polite to use body language in formal communication.
3. Which of the following can be the best title of the passage?
A.Body language, the most commonly used language.B.Arms tell more than legs.
C.Facial expressions tell the truth.D.One simple movement lets slip secrets of mind.

【推荐3】A team of scientists has come up with a plan to help rebuild the Arctic ice cap(北极冰帽). The ice cap is a huge area of sea ice that covers most of the Arctic Ocean all year round. Usually, the sea ice gets thicker and spreads further each winter, but this hasn’t happened in the past few years.

The Arctic ice cap is important because sea ice reflects(反射) heat and light from the sun back into space. With less ice, the ocean would take in more heat. The Arctic would warm up more quickly, and more ice would melt(融化). Without it, many animals would lose their natural homes and die out. It could also influence the weather, with more storms along the coast.

Dr. Steven and a group of scientists think they can help to build up Arctic sea ice again. They want to fix wind-powered pumps(风力泵) on the sea ice. During the winter, the pumps would spread water from the ocean over the surface(表面) of the ice and form a new layer of ice. The scientists said that this could add one more metre of ice to the ice cap in 10 years. The plan would require about 10 million pumps and it would be very expensive-about $655 billion.

Dr. Steven said his team hoped their plan would get more people interested in finding ways to solve the problem of melting ice and give everyone a good start on saving the Arctic ice cap.

1. What’s the scientists’ plan?
A.To save animals in danger.
B.To attract people to come to the Arctic.
C.To clean up the sea.
D.To help rebuild and save the Arctic ice cap.
2. The underlined word “it” in Paragraph 2 refers to _____.
A.heatB.light
C.waterD.ice
3. What would happen if there were no sea ice?
A.The ocean would reflect more heat and light.
B.The Arctic would be much colder.
C.There would be more storms along the coast.
D.More animals would live in the Arctic.
4. The underlined word “layer” in the third paragraph means________.
A.海岸B.层C.能源D.热量
5. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A.The ice cap is a huge area of sea ice that covers all of the Arctic Ocean.
B.The sea ice hasn’t become thicker in the winter in the past few years.
C.The more sea ice there is, the more heat the ocean will take in.
D.The pumps could add another one metre of ice to the ice cap in five years.
