I’m David Brown, a student from Grade 8. I’m sitting in the classroom to write you this letter because I really have something to say about the school lunchtime.

Well, I know that school is for learning. It is important to have good reading and Maths skills. But I think school is also important for another reason. It helps people learn to get along with (与……和睦相处) others.

It may seem that lunchtime is not important. As you see, lots of us spend most lunchtimes just talking with our friends. But this activity is more important than it looks.

I’m learning how to get along with others. I’m learning how to solve (解决) problems. I’m finding out new things from others. I’m learning how to say sorry. These are all important skills to learn.

My problem is that the time for lunch keeps getting shorter. I know this is happening so we can spend more time in class learning. But please do not forget that we are also learning at lunchtime. We are learning people skills. It is important that we have enough time to spend with our friends.

I really hope that you can make our lunchtime longer. A little more time spent with friends each day would benefit everybody.

Two careful and brave children--Benjamin and his sister Emily, found a stolen (被偷的) car in the woods (树丛) yesterday morning. Benjamin is 12 years old , his sister is two years younger than he. The happy owner, Mrs Judy Roberts, said she would thank them and invite them to have a dinner.

Both Benjamin and Emily like walking. They were walking along a path through the woods near their home. And they noticed a car. They were surprised because very few people parked their cars there. They looked inside the car and there was nobody in it. The children thought something went wrong. They made a note of the type of the car and its colour. Benjamin also wrote down its number. When they went back to their school, they told their teacher about the car. The teacher reported (报告) it to the police.

Soon the police found the owner, Mrs Judy Roberts. “I really have to thank Benjamin and Emily. I’m going to write to the local newspaper and their headmaster (校长) to thank them” she said. Benjamin and Emily’s teachers felt proud (自豪的). “Benjamin and Emily are not only students but also good members of the community” they all said.

Henry was a middle school student. He was tall and strong. It was Saturday. There were no classes that afternoon, so he went to a shop near his home. The shop sold many jackets. He looked at them and at last chose a very nice one. He tried it on and then told the shopkeeper to put it into a bag.^.

At that time his friend Bruce came into the shop. They didn’t see each other for a long time. They were so excited to meet again that they forgot everything. Soon they were busy talking happily.

It was six o’clock, so they decided to leave the shop and have dinner together. Henry picked up his bag and walked towards the door with Bruce. The shopkeeper stopped them and asked Henry to pay for the jacket. Henry was surprised at first, but soon he remembered that he didn’t pay for the jacket. He said sorry and gave the money to the shopkeeper and then left the shop with his friend.
