The researchers studied the exercise habits of 55,000 adults in the United States for 22 years. 24 percent of the adults described themselves as runners. Compared 10 those who didn’t run, they were 30 percent less likely to(较少可能) die of any cause during the course of the study.

There were five groups of runners in the study, and the study was based on the time they spent running every week. Those in the lowest group spent about 50 minutes running over a seven-day period. Those in the highest group ran for more than 175 minutes over the course of a week. According to the study, the advantages of running are pretty much the same for all runners.

The researchers also measured (测量) running in other ways—by total weekly distance, frequency(频率) and speed.Even the runners in the lowest groups were healthier than those who did not run.

“No matter how much time you spend running, if you develop a habit of running, you will become healthier,” the researchers said. To reduce the risk of early death, all it takes is 30 to 59 minutes of running every week.
