“No freedom (自由) summer holiday” has become a popular topic on Weibo, as parents begin spending much time and money planning their children’s holiday. It has been a similar (相似的) topic these years, when “Having 30,000 yuan a month cannot afford the summer holiday” also goes popular online.
According to a survey, parents in big cities are most willing to spend on their children’s education during the break.
“I feel much more stressed during the summer holiday than on normal school days since I need to plan different activities for my children. A study tour costs 35,000 yuan for a kid and there are also classes which are necessary for kids,” said Chan Lee, a 40-year-old mother of two primary schoolchildren.
Sending children on overseas tours has also become an important part of the break. Almost everyone in Chan’s children’s classes has joined a summer study tour. They wanted to experience an overseas educational environment, culture, and language through meeting people, visiting famous universities and sightseeing.
Cheng Guowei, a manager of a study tour center based in Shanghai, said parents care about their children’s education. “Nearly 95% of our participants (参与者) are students, and most of them are primary and middle school kids. Yet this market is also very competitive (有竞争力的), as there are many similar centers targeting the parents,” he said.
Yin Jianli is a writer. She is interested in family and education topics. She said it was unnecessary to plan too many activities for children during the summer holidays.
“Parents are not helping their children. They are just doing it to cut down their own worry,” she said. Many parents thought they could buy their children a better education, “But actually a summer holiday should be a time for rest and play, not study,” she said.

If you didn’t have private (个人的) lessons, you could still learn piano, but you would have to learn it by yourself. This was easy for some, but very difficult for most. However, with technology as it is today, there is at last another way that you can take piano lessons. You can take an online course.
An online course can save you lots of money. If a private lesson costs 30 or 40 dollars per week, just think about how quickly that adds up. You can take a complete online course in piano by spending a small part of the money that you would pay for taking weeks of private lessons. Also, private lessons are only usually one hour per week. If you have questions during the rest of the week, or if you forget something that your teacher said, you will have to wait for your next lesson to continue your learning. However, online piano courses are quite different.
With an online piano course, you can work at your own pace (进度). You can also take as many lessons per week as you’d want, or go back and listen to your last lesson if you have forgotten anything. Most adults who want to learn how to play the piano enjoy being able to go back and listen to lessons they watched before. It can give you a good idea of what you were doing right, what you were doing wrong, and what you should be doing before the next lesson.
Of course, if you need someone to sit beside you and give you instant feedback (及时反馈) while you are playing, you are not suggested to choose an online course. But most adult learners think they can get their own type of feedback by watching the course again and again.

It seems that similarity often helps form(形成) a friendship. Aristotle once said, "Some define(给……下定义)it (the friendship) as a matter of similarity(相似点); they say that we love those who are like ourselves. "
Now, there are some scientific explanations for this idea. The scientists from the University of California said friends have similar brains, Scientific American reported.
The scientists invited 42 university students to take part in a scientific test. Each student watched the same set of videos. At the same time, the scientists scanned(扫描)their brains and recorded their brain activities.
According to their study, friends who watched the same videos reacted(作出反应)in similar ways. Similar parts of their brains lit up while watching the videos, especially the parts that were connected with motivation, learning and memory. However, people who weren't friends had different reactions to the same videos.
"Having close friends whose brains react like ours may be rewarding because it reinforces(加强)one's own values, opinions and interests," lead scientist Carolyn Parkinson told Business Insider.
But brain similarity is not the only thing that can result in a friendship. Scientists from the University of Leipzig, Germany, found that a friendship is also based on how physically close you are to someone.
They did a scientific test on first-year college students who met in class for the first time. In this test, students who sat next to each other were more likely to become friends.

Online game providers can offer only one-hour service to young people from 8 p. m. to 9 p. m. on Fridays Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. They are very popular with teachers and parents.
Zhang Zhe, a high school teacher in Nanjing, thinks online games influence students studies a lot. At home, parents often find it hard to stop their children from playing them. What’s worse, students might have no interest in developing friendship. “Students who become seriously addicted(上瘾的) to online games often find all kinds of excuses to play them. They also spend little on food or clothes to save their money for online games. So I think it is really necessary for the government to take action.” said Wu Li, a teacher in Wuhan
Mrs Wang, a mother of a high school student in Shanghai, used to have difficulty keeping her son away from online games, so she felt really glad when the new rules came out. “Whenever I tried to stop him, he got really angry. For several months, he even refused to talk to me.” said Mrs Wang.
Thanks to the rules, students can have more time to take up new hobbies. To make sure that students develop healthier lifestyle (生活方式), schools, teachers and parents need to work closely to help young students find proper hobbies, and hold different after-school activities for them.

Treating wastewater is a good way to provide fresh water for us. And it also helps the environment by keeping waste out of rivers and oceans. 80% of wastewater around the world is not treated at all, and it is running into oceans. But now we have got the technology to treat and reuse the wastewater.
While 75% of our planet is covered with water, only about 2% is fresh water—that comes from rivers, lakes, ice and snow. The rest, 98% of the water, is in seas and oceans. It is too salty to drink. Then desalination(海水淡化)businesses come in. More than 19, 000 factories have been built around the world, mostly in coastal countries. They process(加工)more than 92 million tons of water every day. But the technology they use requires a lot of energy.
Scientists are working to create a less costly technology. They want to produce 20 times more clean water and make sure everyone has enough. But for now, the world still faces each day with not having enough water for everyone.
