On vacations my parents often take me to the zoo in our city because I like animals. I have a lot of toy animals in my room. In the zoo I can see tigers, elephants, monkeys, pandas, bears, dolphins, giraffes and many other animals. Some animals are very friendly, but some are not. Tigers, bears and some snakes are very dangerous. That is why they have to stay in cages. But I don’t think it’s good for animals to stay in cages. They should be free. The animals in cages can’t be happy.

Tigers usually live in forests and mountains. They should go back to nature (自然). They can run very fast. They catch and eat small animals like rabbits and deer, but now they live in small rooms. They have nothing to do every day. So they walk in the cages, and they want to get out. When they are tired, they sleep. I feel sorry for them.

I think the most interesting animal in the zoo is dolphin. I like watching them swim and jump. They swim fast and they jump very high. They can play with a ball. They can stand up and “walk” on water! They are very friendly to people. If you fall into the water and you can’t swim, they may come up to help you. However, they can only stay in a small pool. They should go back to the sea.

【推荐1】Squirrels(松鼠)are getting ready for winter. They are looking for nuts and seeds, digging holes in the ground or finding holes in trees. That’s where they store the food they will need during the coming months, when the weather is cold and sometimes snowy. Squirrels spend a lot of time in trees, which are like restaurants for them. Among their favorite things to eat are nuts and other parts of trees, like tender buds(花苞). Squirrels may also eat corn, insects and other animals. And, as anyone who has a bird knows, squirrels love bird food! Squirrels stay active all winter, so they need plenty of food to help keep up their energy. Squirrels tend to bury food underground, piece by piece. Some squirrels may gather food into piles that they put at the base of trees or bury underground. When they need the food, squirrels use their memories and sense of smell to help them find what they buried. Sometimes, you’ll even see them digging through the snow. Squirrels make nests in trees. Some squirrels spend much of the winter in underground tunnels(地道), where it is warmer. When spring comes, squirrels change their eating habits to new plant growth, like buds and leaves.
