On a winter evening over 200 years ago, a young lady named Wang Zhengyi was doing experiments in her own garden.
Zhengyi, in her twenties, was trying to find out how eclipses (月食) of the moon happened. Through many experiments, she finally explained the eclipse clearly and currently.
Unlike boys, most of the girls in China couldn’t get proper education at that time. However, Zhengyi was lucky enough to be taught by her family at home as a little girl. She also gained a lot of knowledge from reading her grandfather’s collection of books and her interest in astronomy (天文学) and math grew. At the age of 18, Zhengyi began to focus on her study and taught herself with the two subjects.
At that time, people consider the eclipse of the moon as a sign of angry gods. However, Zhengyi didn’t agree with that. She decided to study even harder. On one hand, Zhengyi began to read more books of earlier scientists. Most of these books were written in a way that was difficult to understand. So it took her a lot of time and effort to study those books. On the other hand. Zhengyi watched the movement of stars every night and kept detailed record. Sometimes she even forgot about time and spent all night watching the stars.
According to her own life, she realized the importance for scientific books to be simple and clear for everyone. So she rewrote many books of earlier scientists on astronomy and math so that the public could get education more easily. Some villagers around laughed at her and said, “Zhengyi, now you are not even like a lady anymore.” Zhengyi answered, “I always believe women are the same as men. Who can say women can’t be heroes?”
Although Zhengyi lived in ancient times, she believed in the power of knowledge. And that a woman can make her dream come true through hard work. Her stories have encouraged millions of people, and her achievements have contributed to the scientific progress of the world.

【推荐2】The oddness of life in space never quite goes away. Here are some examples.
First consider something as simple as sleep. Its position presents its own challenges. The main question is whether you want your arms inside or outside the sleeping bag. If you leave your arms out, they float free in zero gravity, often giving a sleeping astronaut the look of a funny ballet dancer. “I’m an inside guy,” Mike Hopkins says, who returned from a six-month tour on the International Space Station. “I like to be wrapped up.”
On the station, the ordinary becomes strange. The exercise bike for the American astronauts has no handlebars. It also has no seat. With no gravity, it’s just easy to pedal violently. You can watch a movie while you pedal by floating a microcomputer anywhere you want. But station residents have to be careful about staying in one place too long. Without gravity to help circulate air, the carbon dioxide you exhale has a tendency to form an invisible cloud around your head. You can end up with what astronauts call a carbon-dioxide headache.
Leroy Chiao, 54, an American retired astronaut after four flights, describes what happens even before you float out of your seat, “Your inner ear thinks you’re falling. Meanwhile your eyes are telling you you’re standing straight. That can be annoying—that’s why some people feel sick.” Within a couple days—truly terrible days for some — astronauts’ brains learn to ignore the panicky signals from the inner ear, and space sickness disappears.
Space travel can be so pleasing but at the same time invisibly dangerous. For instance, astronauts lose bone means. That’s why exercise is considered so vital that National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) puts it right on the workday schedule. The focus on fitness is as much about science and the future as it is about keeping any individual astronauts return home, and, more importantly, how to maintain strength and fitness for the two and a half years or more that it would take to make a round-trip to Mars.

China’s Chang’e-5 lunar probe (月球探测器) collected something from the moon. Scientists found glass beads were hiding in it and that they held water.
This is a very important discovery. Scientists thought the moon was completely dry.
Do you know what is even more exciting? This discovery could help people in the future. Scientists think it might be useful for planning to build homes for humans on other planets.
However, some problems have to be solved. The first problem is where exactly the water on the moon comes from.
Using these special glass beads to support future tasks about the moon sounds like a great idea, right?
Isn’t it fascinating to learn about all these discoveries? There’s still so much to find out in space!

Zheng He was born in Yunnan in 1361. He rose to become a trusted official of Yongle Emperor of the Ming Dynasty(明朝). The emperor ordered Zheng He to visit and explore the lands outside China. His task was to develop relations and set up trade lines with foreign countries. In a few years, he built a large groups of ships, the biggest in the world at that time. The ships were known as treasure ships. They were big enough to carry 25,000 people as well as very large numbers of goods.

I’ve learnt a few things. First, Mia didn't know how to drive at all. She didn't even know where to put the key. It was like watching a chimpanzee try to solve a puzzle. Worse, she couldn't remember that D was for drive, and R meant reverse(倒车).
Then came the road rules. Mia likes to sail past stop signs. I had to explain that “STOP means STOP”. Had she actually read the rule book? “Yes,” she said, but she forgot most of it. “It was so boring.” Although I had been driving her around for her whole life, she hadn't learned anything.
Despite these things, I've also learned that I enjoy teaching her. I think I'm pretty good at it. I am much calmer than I thought I would be.
I also enjoy the one-on-one time we have together. We have some good conversations. So far, we have covered her friends’ hairstyles and how stressed she feels after school. I enjoyed communicating with her. The other day we talked about future plans. I asked what she would do if she could choose anything in the world. “I don't know,” she said. “Sometimes I think I might want to be a movie director, but I'm not sure… I don't want to go into an office every day and just sit there.” Then she asked me how much directors earn.
She’s getting away from me. I thought, and I can’t stop her.
