The sun provides sunshine for plants, animals, and people here on Earth. Energy from the sun is called solar energy. It comes in the form of light or heat. Solar energy makes you feel hot. People have used solar energy for thousands of years. Houses were built with windows so that sunlight can get inside and provide heat. The sun’s energy can also be used to heat water and even food.

We can also turn the sun’s light into electricity. This is done with solar panels(太阳能电池板). Solar panels are made up of silicon(硅). When the sunlight reaches the solar panel, the electron(电子) in the silicon, moves and flows through wires in the solar panel.

Using this technology, we can run even cars. But what happens when clouds block the solar panels? The electrons in the silicon will stop moving. But this doesn’t mean that solar energy can only be used on bright sunny days. Solar panels can have batteries to store(储存) electricity for a rainy day. When the sun is shining, the electricity flows from the solar panel into the batteries. This stored electricity can be used at night or on cloudy days.

Solar energy is not as expensive as before. The sun produces more energy in one second than people have used since the beginning of time. Just imagine what we could do if we used the sun’s energy to power our Earth.

文章大意:本文主要讲了很多人都有害羞的表现,有些人是天生害羞,有些则是因为生活经历而变得害羞,害羞不是大问题,害羞的人也可以成功。

【推荐1】How do you feel when you have to give a talk in front of the class? What about when you go to a party? Do you get really shy?

Shyness means feeling nervous or frightened when you’re around other people. Experts (专家) have found that more than 80 percent of middle school students feel afraid to be the center of attention. Some kids are born shy. Some become shy later because of their life experiences.

It’s OK if it takes you a few minutes to feel yourself again, when you go to a new place or meet new people. In fact, everybody gets a little shy sometimes. The question is how shy you are. Some people have red faces and talk on broken sentences when they get shy. But some are so shy that they won’t go to a restaurant because they are too nervous to order and pay for their food. Some are afraid of meeting new people, so they seldom go outside. This kind of shyness can be bad for a person.

If shyness doesn’t stop you from doing something you want to do, being shy isn’t a very big problem. Some experts say shy people are cleverer because they think more and talk less. Shy people are also good at working with others because they think more for other people. Some great people in history were shy, too.

You see, being shy isn’t all bad. But remember not to let good chance pass by just because of it! If you have to sing a song at a birthday party or practise your spoken English in front of others, just do it! There’s nothing to be afraid of.

You will find many strange animals in the sea. Some are as large as a school bus. Many sea animals give out light in the dark and some have sharp teeth.
During the day, there is enough light. Here, under the sea, everything is blue and green.
When fish swim nearby, you can catch them with your hands. When you have bottles of air on your back, you can stay in deep water for a long time. However, you can't dive too deep. And you must be very careful when you dive in deep water.
The deep sea is not an easy place to live in.   It's cold, and it's dark, too. The deeper it is, the less sunlight there is. At about 3,000 feet, there is no light at all. It is very dark in the sea. Many fishes have no eyes. Some have big eyes. A few have eyes on one side.
Besides (除了) the cold and the darkness, deep-sea animals face a third danger―other animals.
Animals eat! They must find food to eat. Many animals eat plants. However, some animals eat meat. This means these sea animals have two big jobs. They need to find animals as food, and they have to try not to become other animals' meal.

D.At the depth of 3, 000 feet under the sea, all animals can find their way by seeing.

【推荐3】Every morning you get up, wash your face, brush your teeth, eat breakfast and get ready for your day. The daily actions are so common that you don’t think about them much. But what if you were in space? There is no gravity (重力) there, so weights are not as heavy as they are on the earth. When you drop something, it doesn’t fall to the floor. It floats slowly away in the air. This means that astronauts can’t just put down a tool. They need to tie it down. And how do astronauts drink? In space, water just breaks into small drops and hangs in the air.

Well, astronauts eat and drink differently in space. They have special plates so that their food doesn’t float away. They use special bags for drinks so that the drink stays inside.

Sleep is also different in space. Astronauts tie themselves to the wall so that they don’t float around when they are sleeping. Since they have to work hard, they need to get plenty of rest. The sun rises and sets so often that it can be confusing. The astronauts have alarms and sometimes music to wake them up.

Exercise is important for astronauts as well. Since there is no gravity and astronauts float instead of walking or running, their muscles become weak very quickly. They have to exercise on special machines every day so that this doesn’t happen. No one wants to become ill in space and exercise helps them stay healthy.

However, it is not all hard work in space. When they are not doing science experiments, writing reports or exercising, there is a little time for fun. They watch movies, read the news and play the musical instruments. The astronauts on the International Space Station can even connect to the Internet.

2. How do astronauts relax in space?
A.Watch movies.B.Read the news.

B.it’s difficult to eat or drink in space
C.astronauts can’t walk in space as they do on the earth
