【推荐1】Most of us use alarm clocks or mobile phones to wake up at the right time for school or work. We look at our watches to know the right time for the bus or train. However, there is also a right time to eat, sleep, exercise, and take medicine. We can’t look at a clock for the right time for these activities. We must listen to the clock inside our bodies, the biological clock.

Barbara Wells exercised every morning. She woke up at 6:00 a. m. She ran about two miles before she went to work. But Barbara's legs and back started to hurt. She did some exercise before she ran. But her legs and back still hurt. She ran slower, but the pain didn’t stop. Barbara talked to her doctor. The doctor said, “Don’t run in the morning. Try to exercise later in the day. That is the time when your body is at the right temperature for exercise after work. Her legs and back didn’t hurt any more.

Today, doctors are learning more shout chronobiology(生物钟学),the study of biological docks. They are learning about the importance of time for our bodies. For example, it is best for people to go to sleep on time every right and to eat only when they’re hungry. Also, doctors discovered that some illnesses, such as heart attacks, occur (v. 发生) most often in the morning. This information tells them that the best time to take heart medication may be at night. When patients take heart medication at night, they may prevent a heart attack in the morning.

What is the most stressful thing in school? It is probably exams.Exams can put us under a lot of pressure. But some students do well under pressure, while others feel terrible. So,why do some students perform better under stress?
It all comes down to dopamine(多巴胺).Dopamine is a chemical(化学物质) in our brain that sends signals(信号) to our body.It has many important roles:influencing memory, attention and how we learn. Our brains work best when there is a balance of dopamine — not too much or too little.
大脑通过两种方式控制多巴胺。It either takes out dopamine quickly,or gradually.Exam success can be connected to how fast dopamine goes back to a balance.
What happens when we take an exam? If you become stressed, your brain will start to overload(超负荷) on dopamine. It is like a cup overflowing with water. The quicker you can go back to a balance of dopamine, the quicker you will concentrate, helping you perform better on a test.
Scientists found that, during a test, people who slowly got back to a balance of dopamine scored 8 percent lower. That's the difference between a good mark and a bad mark.
But don't fear, there is some good news.The__study__also__found__that__the__more__practice__you__get,the__less__stressed__you'll__be.So,it turns out that practice really does make perfect.
