A man who was climbing a mountain thought he was alone. But suddenly, he was hit by a falling rock and then, a woman climber fell from above, landing right on him. They were both badly injured(受伤). His leg was broken. He tried to stand but couldn’t. The woman’s arm was broken and couldn’t climb. What were they going to do?
It was very cold and night was coming. They both knew they wouldn’t live through the night if they didn’t go down the mountain before darkness came.
The woman had an idea. “Look,” she said. “I have two good legs, and you have two good arms. Together, that makes one healthy body.”
They tied themselves together so that he was on her back. Slowly, they climbed down, little by little. Every step was difficult. They had to stop every minute or so, but the man was counting on(指望) the woman’s strong legs and the woman was counting on the strength in the man’s arms to keep them from falling.
When they finally reached the foot of the mountain, they were found and sent to the hospital by the local people. In the end, they were fine.
They both learned a good lesson that day. A good team isn’t made up of people who can all do the same thing. It must be made up of people who can provide many different skills. By using their individual strengths, they went down the mountain safely.
Sometimes in life, we must depend on another person’s strengths to make up for our weakness.

However, some critics(挑剔的人) argue that creating a close relationship with coworkers and superior(上级) plays the most important part. But the defenders(保守的人) assume(认定) that the knowledge they learned at universities decide most. In my opinion, studying hard in school is the major factor(因素) for a satisfying career.
To tell the truth, a good relationship with leaders is good for a promotion (提升). When they are close to the leader, they could get an information directly and quickly, and get better chances to be promoted. For instance, a roommate of mine, working in the student’s union, developed a close friendship with the chief. So when he left the union, he promoted her as the chief directly. The ability of her and her fellow workmates is almost of the same standard. With the advantage of successful relationship, she wins at last.
The importance of studying hard at school is better than that of good relationship. Real skills make sure of a steady(稳定的) performance in a company. That is, only skillful employees can survive in a company. An uncle of mine, for example, fight for his future in a company. He is really a cold man, and always serious but hard-working at school. It is the knowledge which promise him a bright future. Bosses only desire for talented workers who will create profits(利益) for them. When it comes to cutting members, the smart people with relationship will surely be cut firstly, however men with real skills would be the last to be cut.
More significantly(意味深长的), hard-working is a special feature even in a company. Hard-working is the deposit(积蓄、积累) of years, it’s a special attitude throughout one’s life. People who study hard at school are more likely to study hard in their career. When we were in a university, hard-working promised a great academic performance(学业成绩). When we are in a company, hard-working made us adapt(适应) better and faster to a new condition. In our life, hard-working get us to continue learning all the time. There is no wonder that graduates working hard at school have better performance in their career.
From what have been discussed above, we may safely draw a conclusion (得出结论) that working hard in school is more important. Workers studying hard at school have better ability to solve problems. On the contrary(相反), for people depend on getting along well with others, their career seems to be unsteady.

A.getting a good job | B.one’s career | C.better performance | D.promotion |
A.Working hard at universities. | B.A good relationship with leaders. |
C.Adapt to the new job better and faster. | D.A special attitude in through out one’s life. |
A.study hard in their career | B.make sure of great academic performance |

I really had no idea whether I could do a good job. After two weeks’ preparation, I finished my speech. But speaking in public still made me nervous.
At last, the day came. I went to the platform (讲台). However, before my speech started, I dropped all my note cards over the floor by accident. I was greatly down. I tried to focus on my speech but I couldn’t. All I cared about was how my classmates would think of me.
However, no one laughed at me. They just said, “Come on!” Because of their encouragement (鼓励), I finished my speech successfully in the end.
In life, we always pay more attention (注意) to bad things than good ones. This always makes us feel awful. And such bad feelings will also stop us from bringing the best in us. If we can change our way of thinking, we can think clearly what we’ve learned. And the knowledge can be put into use in the future. Then change from now on.
