The Chinese mainland reported 1,337 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases in 31 provinces on Mar. 13, 2022, the National Health Commission said on Mar. 14. Shenzhen stopped its bus and subway services. Residents in Shenzhen, Shanghai and some other cities are not allowed to leave their cities except in cases of special needs. A negative nucleic acid result (核酸阴性结果) within 24 hours is required upon departure (离开). Rules are dynamically adjusted (动态调整) based on the epidemic situation. People in Nanjing are also nervous due to the latest COVID-19 outbreak. Students need to obey the following rules to protect themselves. First, wear masks. Wearing masks is still one of the most effective ways to stop the virus from spreading. Students need to wear masks while in crowded places, such as in the lift, on the bus, in the supermarket and so on. So students should take some masks to school. Second, wash hands. Wash hands with soap under running water for at least 20 seconds, especially before eating or after using the restroom, touching something dirty, etc. Third, keep a distance from each other. Try to keep yourselves at a distance from others in and after class. Try not to go to crowded places such as hospitals, railway stations and airports. Keep at least 1 meter away from others all the time. Fourth, take the temperature often. Each student must take the temperature at least twice a day. If someone has a fever, the teacher should ask the doctor for help at once. March 20, 2022 |

They come little by little without one being aware of(意识到)their danger. School boys first pick up little bad habits in the school and on the street. When they can’t write their lessons, they copy from their schoolmates. If they see bigger boys smoking, they also want to learn to smoke. If they see their friends gambling(赌博), they want to gamble. When they get bigger, the habits become stronger and stronger, so that they can no longer get rid of(摆脱,除掉)them. From copying, they learn to steal, from gambling, they learn to cheat. At last they become distrusted(不信任) by everybody. How necessary it is that we get rid of the bad habits in the beginning.

My mom smokes too much and she coughs a lot. She says it’s normal, but I think she’s wrong. I don’t want her to get sick. What should I do?
Yours,
Tessa
Dear Tessa,
I understand your feeling, because smoking is bad for health. There are a few ways for your situation, and you can decide which one is the best for you.
You can tell your mom why you don’t like her to smoke and how much you want her to stop. It may help because you can be honest about how you feel. If you don’t feel like talking to your mom, you can try to write a letter to her. You can write all you want in the letter and put it on her bed or somewhere she’ll find it. If you want to choose neither of them, you can turn to someone else to talk to her. They can be your family members or her friends. Perhaps you can talk to them, and they will be able to talk to your mom about it.
I hope one of these ways will work. I’m sure she’ll know your feeling.
Yours,
Jenna, from IML

He was recognized by Shanghai China Records as the man who had visited the most countries and areas, including the North and South poles. However, the trip in 2020 gave him a different experience because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Han got on the icebreaker at Bluff Port in New Zealand on Feb. 16. The ship was planned to land in Argentina after 33 days of sailing. However, at that time Argentina decided to close its borders because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the ship kept moving north to find another place for a landing. Finally, the ship got a permission from the Uruguayan (乌拉圭的) Government and it landed in Montevideo, capital of Uruguay.
Although he got to the shore, he still faced difficulties getting back to China because many flights had stopped flying. What’s more, he ran out of face masks. Then he asked the Embassy of the Peopled Republic of China in Uruguay for help. The embassy gave him 20 face masks, gloves and preventative materials.
He bought flight tickets, first from Uruguay to Santiago, then to Mexico City, to Hong Kong and finally to Shanghai. Unfortunately, when he got to Mexico City, the flight to Shanghai had been canceled and Hong Kong had also stopped transfers (中转). He had to find a hotel in Mexico City and prepared for a long stay in the city. When Han was told by the hotel to check out, as the hotel would close down very soon, he got help from his ticket agent. In the end, he got a ticket from Mexico City to Tokyo and then on to Shanghai.
Han finally met his family in Shenzhen on April 19 after a 14-day quarantine (隔离). “When I set foot on my homeland, I felt at ease and proud. I am very thankful to what others have done to help me get back home,” he said.
