One of the most symbolic instruments is the guzheng, a plucked (弹) string (弦) instrument with a long history. 【推荐3】“Who said that a hero is the one who stands in the light…” This is the lyrics (歌词) of the song Lonely Warrior (孤勇者). The song is very popular among Chinese children.

In a video, a teacher used the song to wake children up from their short sleep at noon. In another video, a nurse used the song to cheer a little kid up. And the song always worked very well! In Kunming, Yunnan, a group of primary school students lost an important competition. Some of them was disappointed and started crying. But after singing the song, everybody smiled and felt full of power!

Why is the song so popular? The key is the music and the lyrics. Good music and lyrics always bring power for people in trouble. The writer of the lyrics is Tang Tian. She had cancer at 29, but she fought with it and beat it at the end. Just like Tang’s story, Lonely Warrior sings how brave people are when they face difficulties and how actively they go after their dreams.

One child writes, “Who said heroes can’t be common people? I want to be a warrior in the face of difficulties. I want to be a warrior who can bear loneliness and face the cold of the world no matter how much rain and wind may blow.”
