“ Master,” the boy finally asked, “shouldn’t I be learning more moves?” “ This is the only move you know, but this is the only move you’ll ever need to know,” the teacher answered.
Several months later, the teacher took the boy to his first competition. Surprising himself, the boy easily won his first two matches. The third match proved to be more difficult, but after some time, his opponent (对手) became impatient and charged; the boy skillfully used his one move to win the match. Still amazed by his success, the boy was now in the final.
This time, his opponent was bigger, stronger, and more experienced. Soon after the match started, the boy seemed to lose. Thinking that the boy might get hurt, the judge called a time-out. He was going to stop the match when the teacher appeared. “ No,” the teacher said, “Let him continue.” A short time after the match carried on, his opponent made a careless mistake. At once, the boy used his move to pin (压住) him. The boy won the match and the competition.
On the way home, the boy asked the teacher what was really in his mind. “ Why could I win the competition with only one move?” The teacher answered. “ First, you’ve mastered one of the most difficult throws in judo. Second, your opponent can only attack your left arm to win you.”

One day, in a foreign language class, Mr. Black gave us a lesson. He wanted us to be active in class, so he asked us some questions, but no one answered. "Let me tell you a story first," he said.
"When I came to the United States to study, the university often invited famous people to make speeches. Before the beginning of every speech, I found an interesting thing. The students around me always took a cardboard folded(折叠的) in half, wrote their names in bold(黑体) with the most eye-catching(引人注目的) color, and then placed the cardboard on the seat. So when the speaker needed the answers from the students, he could see it and call a listener's name directly."
"I couldn't understand that. My classmate told me the speakers were all top people, who meant chances. When your answer was to his surprise, it meant he might give you more chances. In fact, I really saw a few students got great chances because of that."

China
Military raining in China usually teaches students things like standing at attention (站军姿), goose-stepping (正步走) and folding a quilt (叠被子). Some students say that it is not useful. But others feel it encourages them to be more independent (独立的) and responsible (有责任感的).
The US
US schools don't force (强迫) students to take military training. If children are interested in the military, they can attend military camps. These activities help children work in a team and encourage them to work out problems themselves. For example, a group might have the task of climbing over a high wall. If even one person fails (失败), the whole group needs to do it again. So everyone must help each other and finish the task together.
The UK
The UK pays attention to military training for students, especially college students. There are Officer Training Corps (军官训练团,OTC) in some universities. In the OTC, students can learn military skills like first aid (急救), weapons (武器) training and radio communications (无线电通讯). Students can make money by taking part in military exercises. There is a lot of poetry(诗意)in Chinese folk songs, including ideas, feelings and images. But in pop songs, there is no poetry. Each Chinese folk song has its own personality, for example, Jasmine(茉莉花), Dancing of Youth(青春舞曲)or My youth has gone away like a bird and never comes back.
Folk songs are from the people. Folk songs are like a way of serving the people, although folk songs express the feelings of the people. Chinese folk songs express the feelings, the emotions(感受)and the hopes of people about being in love or how hard it is.
“The more national, the more international.” In order to spread Chinese folk music, a forum(论坛)of folk songs called “Nanning International Festival of Folk Songs Art” is held every year. Chinese and overseas art groups and artists often perform at the opening ceremony, such as Chinese minority singers-Han Hong, Teng Ge'er and A'lilangs. The more widely it spreads, the more attention the music attracts.

Many parents think that it’s very difficult to get their children to do chores. But I think it’s easy to get children to do chores.
My daughter, Lucy is ten years old. At night, I write down her chores for the following day. Then I stick (贴) the paper with chores on her door. So she knows her chores by reading the paper on the door. Usually she gets three to eight chores a day. It depends on how she does chores. If she does all of her chores well, she can get fewer chores the next day. Some chores are easy, such as sweeping the floor, folding the clothes and cleaning the table after dinner.
For my other two children, the chores are different because they are very young. They both know how to put their empty (空的) dinner plates into the dish-washer (洗碗机).
