Without coaches, getting good exercises at home can be difficult. Here are three common mistakes you should avoid overtraining.
A lot of people like making use of programs they see on social media. But lots of these programs are high-intensity and designed to make you feel very tired. Training beyond your limits can hurt you.
“You might develop tendonitis(肌腱炎)in the knees; you might hurt an ankle,” said Clifton Hempstead a well-known personal coach.
Watch your form.
A lot of home exercise programs that don’t require tools, such as squats(深蹲)and sit-ups. But having bad form can hurt you. When doing squats, your knees and toes should be pointed in the same direction so that, long term, your knees don’t start troubling you. “If you can’t perform an exercise, find a change that can reduce you pain,” said Hempstead Yoga.
Yoga is the most effective(有效果的)if a coach is present. But if you’d rather learn yoga through videos, it’s important to take it slow. Many video classes don’t offer the way to correct the poses. “If something doesn’t feel right, and you’re taking a pre-recorded class, back off,” Hempstead said, “Don’t go as far.”

Going to a boarding school is a new experience full of excitement of the unknown. It is common to feel a little uncomfortable going into a situation where everyone is a stranger. Trying actively to find new friends can help stop the feelings of being lonely.
A boarding school is a great chance to make new lifelong friends. The question is: how?
You may find you have lots of things in common with your roommate, but even if you are completely different from each other, with a little effort and understanding the two of you may become best friends.
If you leave your door open, this shows that you welcome visitors. As a result, people will naturally stop in and say hello. Closed doors are not likely to bring many visitors and those who stay locked up in their rooms may give others the impression of being cold. Other students will be less likely to stop in and build a new friendship.
Taking part in different activities is a great way to meet new people. It also helps you get more familiar with the campus. By staying active in school groups such as clubs and organizations you can meet lots of people with whom you share common interests.
Get to know your classmates as you'll be spending several months with them. Starting conversations in class is a great chance to meet people who are interested in the same kind of studies as you are. Short friendly discussions can build lifelong friendship.
If you're athletic, trying out for a sport will do for you the same thing as joining a club will do. You will quickly meet a large group of people who share your interests in sports.

The Australian government researchers believe that the sunlight is good for people’s eyes. They compared the vision(视力) and habits of 100 seven-year-old children in Singapore and Australia. In all, 30% of the Singaporean children were short-sighted—this rate(比率) was ten times higher than Australian children.
Both groups spend a similar amount(数量) of time reading, watching television and playing computer games. However the Singaporean children spent an average (平均) of only half an hour a day outdoors—90 minutes less than the Australian children.
Professor Ian Morgan, from the Australian Research Council’s vision Centre, said, “Humans are naturally long-sighted, but when people begin to go to school and spend little or no time outdoors, the number of short-sighted people gets larger. We’re also seeing more and more short-sighted children in cities all around the world and the main reason may be that city children spend less time outdoors.
Daylight can be hundreds of times brighter than indoor light. But why does playing outside prevent us from becoming short-sighted? Scientists believe that natural light has a special chemical(化学物质) which stops the eyeball from growing out of shape and prevents people from becoming short-sighted.
So be outdoors. It doesn’t matter if that time is spent having a picnic or having sports.
1. How much time did the Australian children spend outdoors on average according to the research?
A.30 minutes. | B.60 minutes. |
C.90 minutes. | D.120 minutes. |

C.There will be fewer risks of getting short-sighted if people spend two or three hours a day playing outside. |
D.When people begin to go to school they will become long-sighted. |
A.Why natural daylight has a special chemical. |
B.Why daylight prevents people from becoming short-sighted. |
C.Why daylight is much brighter than indoor light. |
D.What the special chemical which can stop eyeballs from growing out of shape is. |

Some experts say that we usually feel sad because we get less sunlight in winter than we do in other seasons. Getting more sunlight each day can help you feel better. F. Let your stress go. Make sure you have some quiet time to yourself. Don’t be so busy, or you may do anything wrong. |

This adds up to trouble for the environment. Where does all trash go? What can be done to help deal with the rubbish? How can we make less rubbish?
Rubbish isn’t just the smelly rotting (腐烂的) fruits, vegetables or meat that we throw away in our homes. Those are only a small part of all the trash we throw away. We create other more kinds of waste, in construction, in mining (采矿) and in our factories. Did you ever wonder what happened to your rubbish? Most are burned or buried in landfills (废物填埋场). Less than a quarter of our waste is recycled (回收) .
With a population of 1.41 billion, rubbish is a big problem for China. Chinese cities create around 148 million tons of garbage every year. The number is growing at around 10 percent each year. Once, we used about 3 billion plastic shopping bags every day in China. The result was a great waste of resources and serious pollution. So we did something about that. Now we use more cloth bags and shopping baskets when we shop.
In the coming years, China will build waste-to-energy plants in cities to clean up the rubbish and change them to energy. But there’s a lot more that needs to be done. And everyone can play a part.

The Little Free Library was designed by two creative architects(建筑师) using recycled materials, with holes allowing visitors to look in before they enter the building. Architects Marcelo Ertorteguy and Sara Valente said the library creates an environment which keeps its users in the experience of reading books.
The library in Manhattan has attracted(吸引) a great deal of interest since it was set last month. “The Little Free Library idea was created about three years ago and quickly started to appear in the other places, including Europe, Africa and India,” Mr. Ertorteguy said.
He added, “With the library we wanted to create a place where to slow down, a small place in New York City’s streets where to get into a new world---the world of the book you pick.”
There are more than 5,000 Little Free Library across the U.S. and the other countries, but most are nothing more than outdoor bookshelves which cannot hold readers inside. The project is to give everyone access to reading material even if they live in areas which are not served by public libraries.

These are just the kinds of problems a solar storm might cause. Solar storms happen when solar flares (耀斑)break from the sun and travel towards Earth quickly. Actually, since Sept.4, 2017, the sun has burst out two big solar flares, the most powerful ones since at least 2008 according to NASA. They hit Earth on Sept.7.
Normally, Earth is protected by its magnetic field (磁场). But when strong solar storm mix with it, things change. On the one hand, the colourful lights of the aurora (极光)can be seen from the US and Europe, rather than just from polar (极地的)areas. But on the other hand, the storms can stop the satellite systems that control our computers, cell phones and GPS. They can even cause blackouts (断电) for weeks or months.
, but they can put astronauts in danger. Spacewalking astronauts might have only minutes to hide. For this reason, NASA never plans spacewalks during solar storms.
Scientists now have a new tool called EEGGL, which can predict solar storms and hopefully give us warnings when they arrive. As for the recent storm, scientists say it is still too early to know its effect on our technology. They are closely watching for any long-term effects.
1. A solar storm might cause problems EXCEPT that ______.A.the cell phone loses its signals | B.we get hurt in the eyes suddenly |
