Do you like pandas? They were in great danger in the past. China did a lot to protect them. For example, the government (政府) built 52 protection areas for pandas.
In 1980, the Chinese government set up the China Conservation and Research Center (研究中心) for panda. The center uses breeding programs (繁殖计划) to raise (饲养) new pandas and release them into the wild.
In the 1970s, there were just 1,114 pandas in China. Now, there are 1,864.
China has worked to help other endangered species as well. Yunnans’ snub-nosed monkey (滇金丝猴) and the crested ibis (朱鹮) are among them. The crested ibis was once widespread (分布广泛) in east China. But later, people thought they might die out. In 1981, scientists found seven crested ibises in the world. Scientists started breeding programs to save the birds, so the number of crested ibises has increased more than 7,000 in China.

The cafe, Hinichijou, is very popular these days. “It’s really heart-warming to have your coffee handed to you by a fluffy(毛茸茸的) paw,” one customer said. And if you are lucky, you might even get a pat on the head from the “bear”.
While the idea is fun, it’s not the only thing that has made the cafe popular. Some of the cafe’s workers are people with hearing or speaking disabilities(残疾). Wang Haiqing, the cafe’s co-founder(联合创始人), said that working behind the paw can help them feel more comfortable at work.

Students in our school go to school in four ways. They go to school by bike, by bus, by car or on foot. We did a survey about students’ favorite kinds of transportation last week. From the result, we can know 36% students come to school by bike. Bikes are cheap and convenient. Buses are not popular for 89% students, because they think buses are dirty and there are too many people on buses. 34% students like cars because they are safe. Cars are also fast. However, not many people can afford (买得起) a car.
In the US, car pool (拼车) then becomes a popular way to school. Every morning, you run out of your home with your schoolbag, and jump into the waiting car. This is the daily car pool to school. Usually, four friends share a car. Parents may take turns to drive you all to school.
What do students do in the car? If you didn’t have time for breakfast at home, you can eat in the car, If you don’t finish your homework, this is your last chance to finish it before class. Some students just sleep a little more before classes begin.
If you can’t take the school bus, car pool is a green way of transportation. Parents don’t need to drive four cars to take four students to school each day. They can all get into one. More importantly, car pool teaches students important life lessons such as the responsibility (责任) of being on time. If you’re late, then all of your friends will be late, too.

Homework has become a hot topic. Many parents and educators wonder whether it is useful in students’ learning. They also worry that too much homework for students will influence health and sport time. Research suggests that these worries may be right.
Knowledge and Non-knowledge advantages
The goal of homework is not simply to improve knowledge skills. There may be two main non-knowledge advantages, such as building confidence and using time properly. It may also let parents take part in their children’s schoolwork. Yet too much homework may also have some bad points on non-knowledge skills.
Amount of homework
Research suggests: students can spend no more than 1.5 to 2.5 hours per night on homework. Students in middle school can spend about 1 hour in doing homework per night. Homework for primary school students should aim to improve students’ self-learning skills.
What Can Parents Do?
★ Pay attention to encouragement, but allow children to finish their homework on their own. Only provide help when your child asks for it. You had better stay away whenever possible.
★ Set general rules for homework. Research finds a connection between parents’ setting rules and homework.

They are animals that live in the south of the Yangtze River in China. They have hard scales (鱗). They are also known as scaly anteaters (食蚁兽) and help to protect trees in the forest. They are Chinese pangolins (中华穿山甲).
But they are in danger now. Experts said that Chinese pangolins are functionally extinct (功能性灭绝), Beijing News reported. This means they cannot give birth to baby pangolins in the wild. They can no longer play an important role in the wild.
According to a national wildlife survey, there were about 60,000 Chinese pangolins in different places in the 1990s. Since then, this number has gone down by 90 percent because of poachers (偷猎者).
The government carried out stricter policy to protect pangolins in 2016, which means they could be protected at the same level as giant pandas. People would not be able to sell or use pangolin products.
Why do people hunt pangolins? Poachers hunt Chinese pangolins for their scales and meat. People use their scales in traditional Chinese medicine. And it’s believed that their meat is high in nutritional value.
In addition, Chinese pangolins are facing a loss of their homes because of pollution and reduction in forests.
