The summer holiday is coming, which can be a relaxing time for sleeping, eating good meals and seeing old friends. Try to take some time off from school and spend a few weeks of fun. Here are some ideas for planning your summer holiday.

First of all, joining a club is a good choice! You can join a music club, a sports club or an art club. It’s good for your future development and the teachers in the club can give you good advice.

Doing something good for society is also great. There are many volunteer programs for you to choose from, such as looking after the old or the young, cleaning the streets, planting trees or keeping the traffic in order. You know that teens can also make the world better.

Have you ever lived with another family? You can join in a program called “Meeting a New Family”. Two families exchange their children for some time so that they can learn how to get on well with others.

【推荐1】Your school days should be some of the best and happiest days of your life. How can you get the most from them and ensure (确保) you do not waste (浪费) this wonderful chance to learn?

Be positive (积极的) . Don’t say things are difficult or boring. Be interested in school-life and your school subjects. Join lots of activities. Be quick to put your hand up. Go round the school with a big smile.

Work hard. School is not a holiday camp. If you are not learning, it means (意味) you are wasting your time at school, teachers can’t make everything enjoyable.

Keep healthy. If you do not eat a good breakfast, you may think about food in class. If you go to bed late and do not have enough sleep, you will be sleepy in class. Play some sports to keep your body strong.

Do today’s work today. Do not say you will do things tomorrow. If you get behind the class, it is very difficult to get back in front. You can not finish your work if you rest all the time.

Don’t feel sad if things sometimes go badly. Everyone may have bad days. Friends are not always perfect and they sometimes say and do unpleasant things. Don’t let small problems seem very big and important.

Talk about problems. Sometimes they are only the result of misunderstanding (误解). Don’t be afraid to ask for help. You are young. No one thinks you can do everything.

Plan your time. Don’t waste life lying in bed on Saturday morning. Go and play a sport, read a book or help someone with problems. There are always a lot of things to do.

Set targets (目标). Think of small targets, “I will speak in class four times this week” “I will finish my project on Wednesday” or “I will get two more marks (分数) this week”.

Follow our advice and have a happy school-life!

Look around your house and you’ll discover all kinds of ways to wrap presents beautifully. But how can you make less waste at the same time? Here are some ideas.

First of all, you can do a lot with fabric, such as scarves, tea towels, handkerchiefs and all of which can be considered as an extra gift. Many of these can be found at very little cost at a second-hand store. If the piece of cloth is big enough, use a special style knot to fasten it.

What’s more, my uncle used to have a huge collection of old National Geographic magazines and each one seemed to come with a map. Now when I think about it, those would make fantastic wrappings for gifts.

Parchment paper is light and white, yet opaque enough that a person wouldn’t be able to see through to the gift. If you receive a gift wrapped by parchment paper, you can find the paper post-unwrapping and reuse it. Wax paper could do the job, too. As much as possible, reuse paper you already have, like used envelopes in different sizes or brown paper bags. They really can look lovely!

Baskets are super cheap at second-hand stores and highly practical. Buy a basket that suits the size of your gift and the box will be able to enjoy it as well. You can’t go wrong with this choice.

Do not forget the used box. With the amount of online shopping that happens these days, there’s a good chance you have a collection of boxes somewhere in the house, awaiting recycling pickup. Use these to hold gifts, and dress them up with your creative ideas!

文章大意:本文介绍了饥饿的原因及解决的方法。

【推荐3】You can hardly pay no attention to hunger. Hunger has many different causes, according to Dr. Monique Tello, from Harvard Medical School.

The first cause may be medical problems. “If a person always feels hungry and can’t put on weight or even loses weight, he should go to the hospital. For people with Type 1 diabetes (糖尿病), their body isn’t able to process sugar (分解糖). They eat a lot, but still lose weight and they feel terrible.” Tello said.

If it isn’t a medical cause, the problem could be in the head. It’s reasonable to be hungry every three to five hours. However, you are likely to eat often and a lot after watching food advertisements on TV or social media. Also, the more you eat, the larger your stomach gets, and the more you want to eat. A person’s state of mind can play a role, too. Research has shown that stress can increase levels of ghrelin (饥饿激素). Pressure and worry can send people looking into the fridge when they’re not truly hungry.

Another reason may be the lifestyle. Sometimes the reason why a person is always hungry is that he eats too little, exercises too much, or both.

So, what are the solutions? First, reduce your time on watching food advertisements on TV and social media. In addition, say no to food if you’re not really hungry. Finally, change your diet by eating more food high in fiber (纤维), protein (蛋白质) and healthy fats.

1. According to Tello, what should you do if you are always hungry and getting thinner?
A.Eat more food.B.Change your diet.C.See a doctor.D.Do some exercise.
2. What can you learn from Paragraph 3?
A.You don’t feel like eating when you’re worried.
B.You will probably eat more when you feel stressed.
C.The smaller your stomach is, the healthier you will be.
D.The more food advertisements you watch, the less you eat.
3. How many solutions does the writer give in Paragraph 5?
A.Two.B.Three.C.Four.D.Five.
4. What’s the structure (结构) of the article? (P=Paragraph)
A.B.C.D.
5. Which of the following is the best title for the article?
A.How often should you eat?B.What food makes you healthier?
C.How can you lose weight?D.Why are you always so hungry?
