Schoolwork is becoming more and more difficult for students now. Recently, some new rules have been made to make them have a happy school life.
These new rules are made for schools in Jiangsu province. They include some parts. For example, teachers of primary and junior high schools can’t reveal(公布) students’ test scores. They should use letters like A and B to grade students’ test results.
Because of COVID-19, students spent a long holiday at home. When giving lessons to students on the Internet, they had less communication with students and didn’t teach as much as they do at school so teachers think students may get bad scores in the future. After the new term starts, some schools might give more homework or classes to students. But the new rules ask schools not to do that. At the same time, students should have music, sports and art classes as usual.
People have different ideas about the new rules. Yin Fei, a college professor, says some students are not good at studying, but they can do well in other things. So it is good to cancel(取消) scores. But Peng Ming, a teacher in Nanjing, worries about that. He thinks scores are still important. Students need to get high scores to enter good colleges and parents care about their children’s scores. So the new rules are not so good for them.
1. Can teachers reveal students’ test scores in Jiangsu province?2. How should teachers there grade students’ test results?
3. What makes some schools might give more homework or classes to students?
4. As a student, do you agree to the new rules? Why or why not?

Some homework is given by their teachers, and some by their parents. Also, some students don’t know how to save time. They are not careful enough while they do their homework, so it takes them a lot of time. Some students spend too much time watching TV or playing computer games. They stay up(熬夜) very late. Some students have to get up early every morning on weekdays to get to school on time by bus or by bike. It can be a long way from home to school. It will probably make them sleepy(困的) during school hours.
Schools and parents should cut down some of the homework so that our children can enjoy more than nine hours of sleep every night for their health. To me, the biggest headache about studying online is the connection of the Internet. Sometimes, I can't hear my English teacher's voice and I have to connect again. It wasted lots of time. Since then, I have checked my network before class every day and asked other family members not to use the internet while I'm having a class.

Studying at home has made it hard for me to plan my schedule at first. Planning ahead and creating a study calendar is important. You need to know how much time each task will take, such as reviewing your lessons, asking questions, taking notes, and making a to-do list for your homework. These are all good ways to help us learn better online.
Zhang Penghui, 15, Heilongjiang
Online learning takes strong self-discipline (自律) and willpower (意志力). There are lots of distractions (分心) while studying at home. My mom likes to offer me snacks and drinks, which sometimes distracts me from listening during my classes. I have asked her to stop disturbing(打扰) me while I'm studying. A quiet room and clean desk can help us.
