Last week, we went on a school trip to the Singapore Botanic Gardens(新加坡植物园). We went there by bus. We talked happily while enjoying the beautiful sceneries along the way.
It took us three hours to get there. As soon as I got off the bus, I was surprised to find the beauty of the vegetation(植物). There was beyond our wildest dreams! As we stepped into the “Amazon Forest”(微风) blowing toward us.
After a long walk, we went into the Orchid Garden(兰花园). The moment I laid my eyes on the flowers there, I let out an excited cry. From blue orchids to yellow orchids, red orchids to orange orchids, I saw a spectacular site(壮观景象)! I feasted my eyes on(饱览) the beautiful flowers.
Just then, it started to rain. Luckily, we were near the Sembcorp Cool House(胜科冷室). We ran as fast as our tired legs could carry us to the cool house. The moment we entered, we felt the nice welcoming air-conditioning(空调). There we saw plants that can only grow in cooler temperatures. There were over 1,000 orchid types to see!
In Singapore, if famous people visit, we will name an orchid after them, to remember their visit. Our national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim(胡姬花), is also an orchid. This shows that orchids are important flowers in our country!
I had a wonderful day at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. It has become my favorite place. Whenever you think you need your mood(心情) lifted, the Singapore Botanic Gardens is the place for you!
As seen from the world map, Singapore is just a little red dot(点). However, there are amazing wonders that live on the land. Welcome to Sigapore to find more!

She had an unpleasant voice and a direct way of speaking. For some reason, she then made a deep impression on me.
Maria would ask me for my opinion. She wanted to know how I thought we should deal with things. At first, I had no idea how to answer because I knew nothing about stage design. But I slowly began to reply to her questions. It was cause and result: She believed me and encouraged me, so I began to form opinions and completed things perfectly. Most importantly, I began to believe in myself.
Maria’s motto (格言) was, “Try it. We can always paint over it later!” I began to take risks. I had been so afraid of failing but suddenly there was no failing—only things to be improved. (A) With her help, I began to pick up a brush and create something with great confidence.
The (B) shy, quiet starter achieved success that year. I was chosen into the program as “Student Art Assistant” because of the time and effort I’d put in. It was that year that I realized I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing stage design.
Being on that stage design team with Maria changed me completely. I not only believed in myself, but also caught opportunities. She taught me not to care what people think I should do. She taught me to take chances and not be afraid.

The food was great. We ate lots of delicious fruit, like bananas, oranges and pineapples.
We also went to the mountains. The bus trip there was relaxing. The mountains were very beautiful. The next day we went shopping for clothes. Hawaiian shirts were pretty. In October, the shops were very crowded and the clothes were a little expensive there. But the people there were very friendly.
We took many photos.

If you need some luck in your life, one of the most known is the four-leaf clover (苜蓿). Here’s what you should know about this little green plant.
The clover is Ireland’s national symbol, and most have three leaves, standing for faith (信仰), hope, and love. Because it is hard to find one with a fourth leaf, it stands for luck.
The clover plant spread from Ireland across the world, and so did the idea of a four-leaf clover as a symbol of luck. In Korea, people use them to make a lucky meal. And in Italy, car company Alfa Romeo used to paint a four-leaf clover on the side of its race cars. One of its drivers started the practice for a race in 1923, and he ended up winning the race!
Some say there’s a 1 in 10,000 chance of finding a four-leaf clover in the wild, but you can increase your chances. If you can find one, you’ll probably find another. Since four-leaf clovers tend to (倾向于) be found close together.
