A school bus is a kind of bus designed (设计) for student transport: carrying children and teenagers to and from school. So safety is very important. We should have the same logo on the school bus and color it yellow so that people can see it far away. There is at least one teacher to look after the students on the bus. When the students get on or get off the bus, the driver should use the traffic lights to tell other cars, then the other cars can wait until the students are safe. Alice White is a 13-year-old Australian girl and she came to China three years ago. She visited many interesting places in Beijing, but she didn’t go to many other parts of China. Last summer, she went to Guilin in Guangxi with her parents. Alice felt excited about it because Guilin is very famous for its hills and rivers.
Many people like to travel by air, but the Whites think that travelling by train is the best. It’s much cheaper and more enjoyable than a trip by air. They got up very early in the morning and got on the train at 9: 00. The train was quite nice and tidy, and there weren’t many people in their sleeping car. The Whites could stand up and walk around. They kept watching the beautiful things out of the window. They talked, laughed and played cards. It was a long journey, but no one felt bored. Alice thought the train was like a big moving party and it was so interesting. While she was listening to the sound of the running train, she was writing down her feelings and the interesting things in her diary.
When it was 19: 40, the train was already in Guilin. Alice’s train ride was really short, but her memory (记忆) of the wonderful trip would last long.

Teamwork teaches children some social skills and helps them to be better persons, so it is really important for them.
First, children can learn how to communicate well with others in teamwork. Children can first learn how to listen to others when working in a team. Members of a team have to listen to their teachers, teammates and even opponents (对手) to play their part well in a team and to get a good result. Without listening, children can’t have good communication with others.
Second, children can learn how to speak in teamwork. Of course, they have already known how to talk, but speaking is different. “Speaking” is about understanding how to communicate with others properly, not just talking to them. Also, speaking helps children to have a clear mind and be organized (有条理的).
Third, teamwork can improve children’s self-confidence (自信). When children understand that their ideas and work are important, they will be more confident. That also encourages them to do better in the team.
Fourth, teamwork makes children more caring. When children know that they are part of the team, they will care more about other members. Their acts of kindness help them to get on well with others and develop good personal relationship (人际关系).
In a word, teamwork is very important for children. Are you ready to do better in your team?

3. What is “speaking” about?
4. When children understand that their ideas and work are important, how will they feel?

As a saying goes, “No rules, no standards”. Many accidents happened because of our carelessness or breaking the rules. Sometimes, even what we post on QQ or WeChat can also lead to unexpected results. Cathy posted an invitation to her birthday party online. She even posted her address. Her parents came home that evening, only to find over 50 people at the party making a total mess of the house. There were even strangers! The girl’s birthday party turned into a scary nightmare (噩梦).
A study showed that more than three million young people worldwide got into trouble last year because of their online activities. Here are some important rules that will help you be safer online.
Share with care! Not everyone likes what you write on social media. Before posting, ask yourself two questions: “How will I feel if my family or teachers see this?” and “How might this post be bad for me in three or ten years from now on?”
Be polite! No one likes dirty words or “shouting” messages. If you feel angry or sad while writing a message, you should read it again later before sending it. Don’t hurt others with your bad words.
Protect yourself! Don’t share your passwords with anyone else. Never give your personal information. Never send a photo of yourself or your family members to a stranger.
None of these things promise 100% online safety, but following the rules may help you to be much safer.
1. What’s the famous saying about rules?2. How was Cathy’s birthday party?
3. How many rules are mentioned above about online safety?

The cafe, Hinichijou, is very popular these days. “It’s really heart-warming to have your coffee handed to you by a fluffy(毛茸茸的) paw,” one customer said. And if you are lucky, you might even get a pat on the head from the “bear”.
While the idea is fun, it’s not the only thing that has made the cafe popular. Some of the cafe’s workers are people with hearing or speaking disabilities(残疾). Wang Haiqing, the cafe’s co-founder(联合创始人), said that working behind the paw can help them feel more comfortable at work.

They are animals that live in the south of the Yangtze River in China. They have hard scales (鱗). They are also known as scaly anteaters (食蚁兽) and help to protect trees in the forest. They are Chinese pangolins (中华穿山甲).
But they are in danger now. Experts said that Chinese pangolins are functionally extinct (功能性灭绝), Beijing News reported. This means they cannot give birth to baby pangolins in the wild. They can no longer play an important role in the wild.
According to a national wildlife survey, there were about 60,000 Chinese pangolins in different places in the 1990s. Since then, this number has gone down by 90 percent because of poachers (偷猎者).
The government carried out stricter policy to protect pangolins in 2016, which means they could be protected at the same level as giant pandas. People would not be able to sell or use pangolin products.
Why do people hunt pangolins? Poachers hunt Chinese pangolins for their scales and meat. People use their scales in traditional Chinese medicine. And it’s believed that their meat is high in nutritional value.
In addition, Chinese pangolins are facing a loss of their homes because of pollution and reduction in forests.
