For many years, thousands of people have gone to the North Pole (北极) in summer, but few in winter. In the winter of 1990, the French artist Jannot Derit was invited to have the opening of his exhibition (展览) in a building in the little village of Jukkasjarvi. The building, named the Arctic Hall, was made of snow. Many visitors went there. One night, a group of visitors decided to sleep in the Arctic Hall. The following morning, the brave visitors were very pleased with their experience and the idea of an ice hotel was born. Today, the ICEHOTEL is world—famous.

As soon as winter begins, a team of builders from all over the world come to Jukkasjarvi and they make the hotel for that year. As one part is completed, it opens to visitors, while the other parts are still being built. The first part is completed in December and each week after that a new part opens. 文章大意:本文主要介绍了什么是MBTI人格测试,以及它的开发者、它的应用和存在的问题。

【推荐1】

“Have you done the MBTI personality test?” “Yes, I’m an INTJ,” replied Gu Ailing in a recent interview. Gu’s response became a hot topic online and drew people’s attention to the test.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a test designed to discover a person’s personality type. The test result is based on four sets of opposing qualities: Extroversion (外向) VS Introversion, Sensing VS Intuition (直觉), Thinking VS Feeling and Judging VS Perceiving (感知). After answering more than 90 questions, test-takers get their four-letter personality result, including a detailed description. Gu Ailing’s result of INTJ is one of the 16 possible personality types that the test shows.

Developed by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers in the US in the 1940s, the test grew to become the standard for personality tests. Many companies and organizations use it to help them choose people for certain positions. And now in China, Internet users are using it as a tool to guide their lives and relationships.

The key problem with the MBTI is that the test is too “black and white” according to The Guardian. The results place people into only one of each of the four categories; for example, someone is either an introvert or an extrovert. But many people would surely sit somewhere in the middle of these two. In short, the MBTI only gives a “simplified view of human personality”, claimed The Guardian article. It can only really describe the surface of who people are. And don’t forget that people’s behavior and characteristics also change over time. Tests and tools that help people better understand who they are and how they think are very powerful and can still help in some parts of life. As science and technology develop, people can look forward to more accurate tests that truly embrace how wonderfully complex and ever-changing humans really are.

1. What does the article tell us about the MBTI?
A.It was developed about 90 years ago.B.It has been supported by psychology experts.
C.It groups people into 16 different personality types.D.It was created to help companies choose people for certain positions.
2. How can people discover their personality types?
A.By giving a detailed description.B.By answering more than 90 questions.
C.By changing the standard for personality tests.D.By reading the 16 possible personality types directly.
3. The underlined word “simplified” in the passage probably means ________.
A.in generalB.in detailC.trustworthyD.too simple
4. What is the purpose of writing this article?
A.To find out how to practice MBTI.B.To explain why MBTI is becoming popular.
C.To generally describe the MBTI personality test.D.To help readers understand themselves through MBTI.

【推荐2】Many people believe that you lose the ability to learn new languages as you get older. Language experts, however, will tell you that you're never too old to learn a new language. As you get older, it can be more difficult to learn a new language, though.

Children and adults learn new languages in different ways. For children, language is their life. they study for thousands of hours every year, because they need to learn languages to become part of their communities. Adults, on the other hand, are already part of a language community. Learning a new language means becoming part of another language community, and adults rarely get the chance to practice as much as young children do.

Moreover, children learning a new language are expected to make mistakes. This gives them freedom when learning to be daring and confident. Adults, however, often feel stressed to be perfect when learning a new language. This can discourage many people and make it even harder to learn a new language.

When young children learn a new language, they come to see various (各种) languages as a "normal" part of society. This mindset (思维模式) helps them to learn a new language without feeling like they're doing something unusual or "too hard".

So if you want to learn a new language, go for it! It's never too late to learn a new language. If you're older, it may take more work, but it can be done. If you're a young child, though, now is the time to step out and learn a new language!
