Tree houses are great places. They are houses that are built in the trees. Children can play and have fun with their friends there. Some children don’t play in a tree house because they can’t climb trees or they are afraid to stay in high places. But for some disabled(残疾的) children, tree houses are only a dream.
So Bill and Philip want to build tree houses for them. They wish everyone can have a good time in the tree houses. Their neighbors(邻居) come to help them, too. After about 7 days, they finish one tree house.
They ask Catherine and Jessica to visit the tree house. Philip asks, “What do you think of it?” “It is so cool,” Catherine answers. “It is also very big. I can get into it easily.”
Jessica thinks Catherine is right. “It is great! Now I can get into it by myself and don’t have to ask others for help,” she says.
Bill and Phillip are very happy about that. They think, “It’s a good way to make friends with these disabled children.”

Debby also traveled to other cities in Arizona and New Mexico to help people get solar energy. Debby loved her work very much and taught people about solar energy.

Soon after, however, he started to do an amazing thing. He learned to make clicks with his tongue to help him move around. Kish now moves about using sonar. He is so good at it that he can ride a bicycle by himself on public roads. And he started the organization World Access for the Blind(WAFTB) in 2000, teaching others how to use sonar. In the interview with National Geographic, he explains how the sonar works.
“When I make a click sound, it produces sound waves. These waves reflect off surfaces all around and return to my ears. My brain then deals with the sound and turns it into pictures in my mind. Each click is like a camera flash, which helps me make a 3D picture of my surroundings for hundreds of feet. It’s like having a conversation with the environment.”
Kish feels it is exciting to ride a bike using sonar, although he needs to click twice a second, much more than he usually does. “It may sound a bit dangerous to move around the world in this way,” he says, “But most people in the world live in fear of things that they imagine. I love hiking and mountain biking. I go almost everywhere. And I’ve never had an accident and hurt myself.”
He is happy to be able to help more blind children to improve their life. “We’ve served over 10,000 students in nearly 40 countries,” he tells the reporter, “Many students are surprised how quickly results come. Seeing isn’t in the eyes. It’s in the mind.”

I was excited. I never bought my lunch at the cafeteria. It was too expensive for my family, and I always carried my lunch and brought the bag back home to use again the next day. My sandwiches were either bologna (大香肠)or tuna fish. It hardly changed beyond that.
You can understand my happiness when I had the chance to buy a hot lunch.

Now I realize that Mrs. Brown couldn't have liked a tuna sandwich of Friday. But she bought my sandwich because she saw a little-girl who was excited over the simple act of having a hot lunch.

A boy sat nearby. His worn jacket, pale face, dirty hands all seemed to tell me that he was homeless.
“He must be cold and hungry. Maybe I should help him,” I said to myself. Just at that moment, a well-dressed young couple walked towards him.
“Excuse me,” the man bent down. “My wife and I bought two meal boxes but one was enough for us. We hate to waste good food. Can you help us out and put this to use?” He gave the boy a meal box.
The boy thanked them and opened the box with joy and care. Suddenly he stopped and saw an old man in a worn sweater, worn trousers and open shoes, entering the hall.

Mother was right, as I discovered after I had finished my college education. I had decided to try for a job in radio. One day. I wanted to host a sports program. I went to Chicago and knocked on the door of every station. But I got turned down every time.
