Making Coffee
This needed them to count out 8 spoons of coffee beans (豆) into a coffee grinder (研磨机). Then they needed to grind them for 20 seconds. Next they should pour the coffee grinds into the basket. After that they poured 8 cups of water into the machine.
As you can see, there was math exercise behind. As they grew older, the chore (making coffee) would become more difficult.
Doing the Dishes
Doing the dishes needed three steps. I let one of my children brush the dishes. The other one washed the dishes with water carefully. And I would dry and put away the dishes. Through the cleaning, they could learn how to work together. To make the chore interesting, I even wrote a song called Keep the Washing Going. My children always felt excited when they sang the song with me.
They now have the jobs of sweeping the floors, taking out the rubbish and giving the dog a shower every day. What makes me happy is that they can have fun when doing chores on their own.

Having taught in the US for 17 years, I was sure of my ability to hold their attention and I was confident that they would admire(钦佩) my ability to teach them literature well in English.
I was shocked when the monitor shouted, “stand up!” The whole class rose as I entered the room and I was somewhat unclear about how to get them to sit down again, but once the embarrassment(尴尬) was over, I quickly gained my calmness and admiration again. I went back, to my office with the rosy glow which came from a strong sense of achievement(成就).
My students kept diaries. However, as I read them, the rosy glow was slowly replaced(取代) by a strong sense of sadness. The first diary said, “Our literature teacher didn’t teach us anything today perhaps her next lecture(讲座) will be better.” Greatly surprised, I read diary after diary, each saying something about a similar theme. “Didn’t I teach them anything? I described the whole Western philosophy(哲学) and laid the historical background for all the works we will study in class,” I complained. “How should they say I didn’t teach them anything?”
It was a long term, and it slowly became clear that my ideas about education were not the same as those of my students. I thought a teacher’s job was to raise interesting questions and provide enough background so that students could draw their own conclusions. My students thought a teacher’s job was to provide exact information as directly and clearly as possible. What a difference!
However, I also learned a lot; and the experience with my Chinese students has made me a better American teacher, and I knew how to teach in a different culture.

Chat GPT is really popular these days and many people want to try it. In fact, Chat GPT is a clever AI chatbot (聊天机器人) made by a US company. When it comes to education, some people hold different opinions about it.
In my opinion, Chat GPT has helped me a lot, from giving cooking tips to writing emails, but I’ve never used it in my education. Because we sometimes are not sure whether the information is correct. Also, depending on it to do our homework will just make us stop thinking. So I think Chat GPT isn’t useful in students’ education.
Whether Chat GPT is good or bad for education, I think it all depends on how students use it. If students use it to help them better understand certain topics in detail, I think it can really help their learning. However, if Chat GPT is simply used for homework or cheating (作弊) on exams, I think it will do no good.
I think Chat GPT is terrible for education. This is because it’s powerful enough to allow lazy and hardworking people to achieve the same level of excellence with the same level of education. This makes students become lazy.
AI chatbots like Chat GPT can provide much support. In addition, by solving hard tasks, AI chatbots can free up students’ time to help them work on higher-value work. So I think the best way is to show them how to use Chat GPT properly, rather than just banning (禁止) it or seeing it as an easy way to copy homework. |

C.Chat GPT gives her much help. |

They predicted that in the future few people will go to an office but will work from home and have work meetings online. People will have highly developed 3-D printers that will let you download (下载) a design for furniture or a food recipe and then "print" the sofa, table or pizza at home. There will also be less need for visits to the doctor. We will all have a home health instrument that will tell us what the problem is and give us treatment.
