There was once a lonely girl who longed for love. One day, she was walking in the woods and found two hungry birds. She took them home and put them in a small cage. She cared for them with love and the birds grew strong. Every morning, they provided her with a wonderful song. The girl felt great love for the birds.

One day the girl left the door to the cage open. One bird flew from the cage. The girl was so afraid that he would fly away. As he flew close, she grasped him wildly. She was very happy to catch him.

Suddenly she felt the bird unable to move. She opened her hand and looked in horror at the dead bird. Her love had killed him.

She noticed the other bird moving back and forth on the edge of the cage. She could feel his great need for freedom. She lifted him from the cage and let him fly into the air. She wanted the bird to be happy.

The bird circled once, twice, three times. Finally, he flew closer and landed softly on her shoulder. He sang the sweetest music that she had ever head.

【推荐1】There are two brothers. The elder brother is five years old and the younger brother is one year younger than him. It’s the age of having a strong thirst(渴望)for knowledge and the world around them.

One day when they were playing in the bedroom, they thought it was too dark inside, because the curtains(窗帘)were drawn and the windows were closed. They wanted to see the bright sunshine outside. The two brothers said to each other, “We can bring in the sunshine in a bottle.” So, they took a bottle and went up to the balcony(阳台)to collect sunshine. Soon the bottle was warm to touch. Thinking the bottle was full, they went back into the house. When they entered the room, it was still dark. They changed it for a bigger one. The result was the same. After changing a lot of bottles again and again, there was still no sunshine in the room.

Their mother saw their strange behaviors and knew what they were doing. She smiled and said, “As long as the curtains are drawn back and the windows are opened, the sunshine will naturally come in. Why do you use the bottles?”

We often make the same mistakes as they do. We put ourselves in the darkness of failure, but forget that as long as our hearts open, the sunshine of success will drive the darkness away.

Once upon a time, there lived a man in a town. He was the richest man in the town. However, he didn’t have a child, although he got married five years ago.

After some time, the rich man’s wife gave birth to a lovely baby. The rich man was very excited after the baby was born. He planned to get some famous cooks to make over 100 different kinds of food and invite people in the whole town to have dinner. Soon, the cooks had most of the food ready. However, they couldn’t get any fish. The rich man made a decision: If anyone could succeed in bringing him fish, he would reward (奖赏) him.

Many people tried hard to get fish, but nobody was successful. Finally, a middle-aged man found a huge fish and he decided to take it to the rich man. When he arrived at the gate (大门口), the gatekeeper stopped him and he promised (许诺) the gatekeeper half the reward.

The gatekeeper let the man go inside with the fish. When the rich man saw the fish, he was very happy and asked the middle-aged man, “Do you want a bag of gold?”

Happiness is for everyone. You don’t need to care about those people who have beautiful houses with large gardens and swimming pools or those who have nice cars and a lot of money and so on. Why? Because those who have big house may often feel lonely and those who have cars may want to walk on the country roads in their free time.

In fact, happiness is always around you if you put your heart into it. When you are in trouble at school, your friends will help you; when you study hard at your lessons, your parents are always taking good care of your life and your health; when you get success, your friends will say congratulations to you; when you do something wrong, people around you will help you to correct it. And when you do something good to others, you will feel happy, too. All these are your happiness. If you notice a bit of them, you can see that happiness is always around you.

Happiness is not the same as money, it is a feeling of your heart. When you are poor, you can also say you are happy, because you have something else that can’t be bought with money. When you meet with difficulties, you can say loudly you are very happy, because you have more chance to challenge yourself. ________ you cannot always say you are poor and you have bad luck. As the saying goes, life is like a revolving door. When it closes, it also opens. If you take every chance you get, you can be a happy and lucky person.
