They went up to the mountains and found a perfect place to put up their tent. After that, they decided to walk around to see more of the mountains.
After a long walk, they went back to their camp, built a fire and cooked dinner. Soon, it was time to go to sleep. In the middle of the night, Cathy woke Alex up and said, “Look up at the sky. What do you see?”
Alex answered, “I see millions of stars.”
Cathy said, “That’s right. What does that mean to you?”
Alex said, “Well, if there are so many stars out there, that means there might also be a planet(行星) just like the planet we live on. And if that’s true, then there could be life on one of those planets. That’s kind of exciting!”
Cathy said, “You are wrong. It means that someone has stolen(窃取) our tent!”

Some of us talked with them about interesting things in our school. Bob told some interesting stories to them. Some old people had a great interest in WeChat, so I taught them how to use it. After lunch, we performed (表演) for them. We sang and danced. We had good time. At 4: 00 p.m, we said goodbye to them.
I felt a little tired but I learned a lot from this activity. I also felt sorry for the old people about their lives. Many of them have a problem: they need more love from their children.

Because I'm a writer and book lover, others would naturally think that I started to like literature (文学) from an early age. Actually, I once saw reading as a frightening thing that would always be difficult. Then I discovered books that caught my imagination-stories like The Little House Series and A Little Princess. Can you imagine how a reluctant (不情愿的) reader became a book lover and later an author?
This row of books that changed my life now decorates my desk. These stories are so dear that they feel like part of me.
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett—I began to think that if I looked carefully enough, I would find a secret garden in my backyard and bring it back to life.
A Friend in the Storm by Cheryl Ricker—This book of poetry got me through some of life's most difficult times.
Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl—This is the book that made me want to be a writer someday.
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo—Inspired (鼓舞) by it, I wrote a three- part blog post for books, started giving it to kids as gifts, and still listed it as one of my favorite stories.
Every book in the row inspired, comforted, or challenged me. I know today that, while many are well-known titles and a few were written by not-so-famous authors, they all remind me that we can never know what we will do with our talents. What can we do? Just follow our hearts.
