As a teenager, I was the most difficult guy. I got angry quite easily and was not good at communicating with others. Slowly, most of the people around me tried to keep away from me.

One day, as I was getting ready for school, my busy mother handed me a vest (背心). When I saw it, I knew that was my father’s—I was getting to have a larger size than my father at that time. So as I put on the vest, I felt as if I wasn’t able to breathe! The feeling of anger was rising in my heart. My mother said sorry with a smile, but I was so angry that I let out a shout. Soon, I pulled the vest off my chest—so wildly that I made a hole in it. Then I put on my own vest and rushed out before she could stop me.

Later, my mother shared these with my father. Instead of saying he would scold (训斥) me, my father just calmly asked my mother to mend the vest. ________ When my mother told me about my father’s action, I sat alone and thought a lot. Just imagining that he was wearing that broken vest in his office the whole day made me feel so terrible.

But I had to say, my father did set a great example for me.

That night, I thought a lot. I promised myself that I would never let anger control my mind any longer.

【推荐2】Whenever things weren’t going my way, my mother would say, “Don’t worry, my son. One day your luck will change.”

Mother was right. After I finished my college education, I decided to find a job at a radio station. I wanted the host(主持)a sports program so I went to New York and knocked on the door of every station. But I got turned down every time.

In one radio station, a kind lady said my problem was that I hadn’t got enough experience. “Get some work in a small station and work your way up,” she said.

I went back to my hometown but couldn’t get a job there, either. I felt really down. “Your luck will change,” Mom said to me. I kept trying and three months later, I tried another radio station in San Francisco. But the owner told me he had already had someone.

As I left his office, I asked, “How can someone be a sports announcer(播音员)if he can’t get a job in a radio station?” I was waiting for the lift when I heard the man call. “What did you mean? Do you know anything about football?” He put me in front of a microphone(麦克风)and asked me to try to imagine that I was giving my opinion on a football game. That was my dream job and I succeeded.

On my way home, Mom’s words came back to me, “One day your luck will change. And when it happens, you’ll feel so good because of all your hard work.” At that moment I knew what she meant.
