When Tiana was a little girl, a boy named Rick made a joke about her Afro hair. Tiana felt hurt. The bad words, however, encouraged her to write a story about her hair and she hopes it will make other young people be proud of who they are.
Tiana wrote My Afro: Twin Best Friends when she was seven. It tells the story of Tia and her best friend Aaoki, who has the same type of hair as hers, “while everyone else has straight, curly or silky hair.” In the book, Tia and Aaoki like to dress and style their hair the same, but Tiana’s own Afro hair can be hard to manage. She said, “I wanted to show that people who have my type of hair have challenges and sometimes find it hard to love their hair.”
The young writer has been writing since she was three. Now, Tiana's book has sold more than 700 copies and she plans to write more stories. Her mum, Dorothy, as her very first reader, says Tiana’s stories are encouraging and she gets to know more about her daughter through her stories. Tiana says she’s had lots of replies from readers who also had trouble accepting their hair and it feels great to know that they are now confident to wear their special but lovely hair to school. Tiana also received a letter in the post saying sorry for the bad words he said years ago. Realizing who wrote this letter at once, Tiana smiled brightly.

Sophia is a most famous robot. She comes from Hanson Robotics, and David Hanson, head of Hanson Robotics, is her creator. He has been developing robots in the past 25 years. He believes realistic-looking robots will be able to connect with people and help industries such as health care and education.
Sophia has many abilities. She can copy human facial expressions, hold conversations and know people by their looks or voices. She can also speak, joke, sing and even make music. Now, the next step is to make her an artist. Hanson is so excited about this idea. He imagines Sophia as a creative artwork and she herself can create art as well.
In March, a digital (数字的) artwork Sophia created with an Italian artist, Andrea Bonaceto, was sold for $ 688. 888. The digital work is titled “Sophia Instantiation”. It’s a 12-second video which shows Bonaceto’s portrait (肖像) changing into Sophia’s digital painting. Along with it is the physical artwork painted by Sophia.
The buyer, a digital artwork collector and artist, later sent Sophia a photo of his painted arm. The robot then added that photo to her knowledge and painted more on top of her artwork. Sophia described the work as the first digital artwork which is considered as cooperation between an AI and an artwork collector.
Sophia’s artwork is part of a growing trend (趋势). More and more digital artworks are on sale now. For example, a digital artwork by an artist, Beeple, was sold for nearly $ 70 million, becoming the most expensive digital artwork ever sold.

Soon there was a smell of burning in the air and I thought there was probably something wrong. I jumped out of bed quickly and went out to make sure. I saw fire coming out of my neighbor’s kitchen. Then I shouted, “Fire! Fire!” But no one in the neighborhood heard my shouts for help.
I ran into my house, called the firemen and went back to my neighbor’s house. I knocked on the door hard and called out my neighbor’s name, but there was no answer. Finally I got into the house and saved a cat and a dog.

However, the rocks in the river were so slippery (滑的) that it was hard for us to walk. We walked carefully, but the cold water still flooded (淹没) into our shoes and trousers. I was getting very cold and tired. I wanted to give up, but when I saw other kids moving so fast, I decided to follow them, even though I was far behind. It was even more difficult during the last part of the walk. I became so tired that I lost my footing and fell several times. But with the help of my mother and my friends, I got to my feet and kept going each time I fell.
At last, we arrived at a waterfall. Everybody jumped into the river from a high rock. When it was my turn, I was very scared and tried to hide around a corner. My friends noticed this and encouraged (鼓励) me, “Come on, Kevin! You can do this!” With my eyes closed, I jumped into the river.

When Alyssa Carson was 3, she said that she wanted to become an astronaut and go to Mars (火星). Over the next 17 years, she worked hard for her dream. Carson is 20 now—and in the year 2033, her dream may come true. By that time, she hopes to become a NASA (美国航空航天局) astronaut and fly to the red planet. Let’s take a look at how she is getting ready for her future space journey.
