Everybody wants to succeed, but how can we be successful? We must keep working hard to achieve our goals and it always begins first with baby steps. Why do we call them baby steps?

Baby steps are the first steps we take as an act of faith (信念). Faith is the most important in taking baby steps. We see others stepping out and we want to show our ability to walk by following them. As we grow, we continue our development by taking extra (额外的) baby steps. Sometimes we fall; sometimes we fail. After that, all steps become an act of faith; we just become more practiced. If you say to yourself “I don’t want to make a fool of myself” or “I’d better wait until I’m good at this”, you’ll probably never take the baby steps towards your goals and end up lying in self-pity.

As a culture, we focus on results. We think about every risk that must be taken to reach our goals. There are few people who are excellent performers of any tasks the first time they try them. They practice their skills and use their talents through baby steps before they are ready to prove (证明) themselves to the whole world. So take those baby steps to reach the goals.

As your steps become a walk, become more experienced, your baby steps become a walk, then a jump, and finally a sprint. That’s how our baby steps lead us through the marathon (马拉松) of life.

C.We must make full of our skills in order to succeed.

A.Long jump.B.Sudden stop.

A.Baby StepsB.Life Goals

【推荐1】There was a park near my home. But I didn’t go there very often. Many people said there was nothing special. One afternoon I went into the park and found it was really small. I walked quickly and found myself standing in front of two paths (小径).

“Which way should I go?” I asked myself. I looked at one way, then the other.

The left one was wide and clean. There were lots of flowers on both sides of the path. Though the flowers weren’t very beautiful, they made me feel good. I decided to take this path. But wait! I looked at the right one. The path didn’t look nice. It seemed it had not been cleaned for months. Grass grew everywhere. For a long time I couldn’t make up my mind.

After a while, a strange feeling made me follow the dirty path. It wasn’t nice, but I didn’t want to give up. At last, I came to the end of the path. Ah! There was a small garden there. It was beautiful, perhaps the most beautiful garden I had ever seen. There were trees, flowers and chairs. I thought it was the nicest part of the park.

Many people told me that there was nothing much to see in the park. Now I’d like to tell them that if they had followed the right way, they would have felt differently. But when I told them about what I had seen in the park, they just smiled at me without saying a word. ________________. They couldn’t even remember that path because it was so small.

My trip to the park that day made me understand something about life. Don’t be afraid to choose a different path. You may get a big surprise!

文章大意:本文是一篇记叙文,主要讲述了作者在法国第一次去电影院看电影的经历。

【推荐2】Last weekend, I had a trip in Sete, a small seaside town in the south of France. I went with a French friend and I stayed with her family. The sky was blue and the sun was shining.

When I was there, my friend took me to the cinema. I loved going to the cinema at home in England, but I had been in France for three months and I went to the cinema for the first time. I was worried because I was afraid that I couldn’t understand the film. It was a very small cinema with just three small rooms. It looked nothing like the cinema in my hometown. We chose to watch a Disney movie because the story was easy to follow.

I was surprised to find that I understood almost everything. However, it was a little difficult to know every word of the songs, but I understood the feelings and the stories behind them, so it wasn’t too bad. I recommend watching a film in a foreign language because it shows you how well you learn the language. Even though I just had lunch not long ago, I was feeling hungry again. I went for something to eat. That was when I discovered the pudding (布丁) in the fridge. It was made from milk, sugar, eggs and fruits, and it looked so yummy. I noticed that there was only one left.

I was putting the pudding on a plate when my brother came into the kitchen. He found the pudding and asked for it. “It’s mine! I was the only one who found it!” I shouted. “You are my elder brother. To my surprise, Ollie, our pet dog, walked over to the mess on the floor. It began to lap up the pudding happily. Within minutes, the mess on the floor was gone. Ollie licked (舔) its lips when it was done.
