Every year, there are too many traffic accidents caused by (由……引起) people looking at their mobile phones. A lot of people were badly hurt or even died because of this. I think the new law will be helpful. There will be fewer accidents than before. The law can help to warn (警告) people not to use their mobile phones while they are walking across the street.

I don’t think it will help people very much. Some people may have some important messages or e-mails. If they can’t reply to them at once, they may miss something important. What’s more (而且), people should pay more attention to (关注) some safety rules. They shouldn’t just give up using mobile phones on the street. I think it’s their right (权利) to use mobile phones any time.

【推荐2】The local government killed more than 34,000 stray dogs（流浪狗）several months ago because they were afraid that the dogs would spread rabies（狂犬病）.

This caused a discussion across the country. Some people said that it was very cruel to kill dogs. There might be a better way to avoid the disease.

In the future, killing stray dogs might be seen as a crime. The Chinese government published a draft（草案）of animal rights law. It says that a person who kills a stray dog without good reasons will be put in prison（监狱）. The draft also says that people who treat animals badly will be considered crimes under the criminal law.

The government published the draft so that the public could read it and discuss their thoughts. People share different opinions. Some think the law is good. They say other countries like Britain and Japan have similar laws. They say we will do better at protecting animals if there is one. But others say it's not necessary to fight animal abuse with a new law.

Some people also say that the draft doesn't deal with the biggest matters facing the country's development. The country should make progress to give all people equal（平等的）rights,they say, before turning attention to animals. Another part of the draft is causing discussion. It says that people should not force animals to do something dangerous, like jumping through a ring of fire. But many people enjoy watching this kind of performance at the circus, especially kids. They say that if the animal does it properly, it will not get hurt.

【推荐1】Are you ready to cook, clean or grow plants? Starting from September, students in primary and middle school will have a new class—the labour (劳动) class. They will have at least one labour class a week. They will try different kinds of labour and learn different life skills.

Labour education can help people to be active, creative (有创造力的) and happy in life. Through such classes, students can learn the meaning of labour and its value.

Also, some schools already have interesting labour classes. Kids from a school in Chongqing have a class about catching loaches (泥鳅) in the river and learn about their habits (习性). In Fenyi county, Jiangxi, kids make tofu with a millstone (磨盘). They also taste (品尝) tofu made by themselves.” We learn about the wisdom (智慧) and hard work of our ancestors (祖先),” says Lin Boxuan, a fifth grader.

Some kids also keep small animals at home, like chickens. They learn how baby chickens are born and take care of them.

Today more and more kids wear glasses before going to middle school. Because they spend too much time watching TV or playing computer games without a rest. But we must do something to protect (保护) our eyes because they are important for us to see the world.

Love your eyes. Every day, when we open our eyes, we can see the lovely friends and parents, beautiful flowers and green trees. Without them, there is only darkness. It is like a house without any light. How important our eyes are!

Remember to rest your eyes. When you use the computer for an hour or two, it is time to stop to have a 30-minute rest. At school, you need to do eye exercises. Closing your eyes for resting is helpful, as well as looking at green trees or grass. In these ways, your eyes will feel relaxed.

Have good habits. When writing homework and reading, it is important to keep a distance of 30cm between your eyes and books. We should never rub (摩擦) our eyes with dirty fingers. Before and after swimming, use eye drops. Eat something healthy for eyes, such as carrots, fish and eggs.

Many children use the Internet to get useful knowledge and information, and to relax in their free time.     1     Here are some rules to make sure you are safe on the Internet.

    2     For example, when you can go online and what activities you can do online. Remember not to spend too much time on the Internet. It is bad for your study and eye health.

    3     Don’t give your password (密码) to anyone else, and never give out the following information: your real name, home address, age, school, phone number or other personal information.

【推荐2】Recently, some Chinese experts advise people to be more careful about making a “V” gesture while taking a photo, because the fingerprints (指纹) may be stolen.

It is possible. If the distance between the person and a smartphone is less than half a meter, the possibility of the fingerprint being stolen will be bigger. Having fingerprints stolen can cause a lot of trouble, as they are used in many things, including ID cards, passports, and online payments. So, it’s a must to pay attention to their protection and avoid them being spread on the Internet. This kind of discussion was first raised by a Japanese research center, the National Institute of Informatics.

Zeng Qiaoyi, 19, who likes sharing selfies (自拍) on WeChat, said she is also worried about it. She said she seldom posts pictures with “V” gestures and most pictures she shares are made to be not so clear by certain software. “I blur backgrounds in selfies, hoping to hide my location (位置).” she added.

Tan Tieniu, a scientist, said at the 2016 China National Computer Congress that using fingerprints instead of passwords or voice identification (识别) is far from safe, compared with face recognition (认证).

But a police officer from Jiangsu province, said people don’t need to be overly worried, because the cameras of many phones are not clear enough, and the shooting distance of most photos taken by cameras is too far.

In the past two years, the “AI face change” has become a hot topic. AI face change refers to changing other people’s faces into their own through AI smart technology. Criminals (罪犯) will use the technology to cheat people, which often causes great losses in a short period of time.     1     Criminals can get a picture or a video even our voice through some apps that we use to have fun in the Internet.     2
