Mike and Dick work in the same office. They don’t like the cold weather. And one day they decided to take their holiday in Australia. Their plane arrived in Sydney at nine in the morning. They had a good rest in a hotel. The next morning they rented(租) a car in the city and began their travel. A few hours later the sun was shining in the sky and there were no shade trees(遮阴树) beside the road. It was so hot that they could hardly go on driving. They had to stop to look around. Mike found a river was about half a kilometer away from them. They were both very happy and drove the car quickly. Soon they got to the river. Before they jumped into the water, Dick saw a boy playing under a big tree. He asked,“Are there any sharks(鲨) in the river, boy?”“No, there aren’t,”answered the boy. So they began to swim in the river. After a while, Dick felt something hit against his leg. He told Mike about it. They were afraid and stopped swimming. 【推荐3】阅读下面短文,根据短文内容,完成下列各题。

I had brown hair that started going gray(灰白的)when I was 30. So, like a lot of women,I started coloring my hair, which may make me look younger.

However, it was expensive and a waste of time. And my hair grew fast, so I needed to color it every five weeks.

Then one day, I suddenly realized that many people seemed to enjoy keeping young for as long as possible, no matter how much time and money they had to spend in coloring their hair. More importantly, I felt that it was OK to be ourselves because going gray had done more for me than saving me time and money.

I like my natural hair, just as it is. I like how it has gotten curly and full again. After years of not being colored, it is healthier than before.

I also like that it makes me realize something different. It reminds me that I’m not a kid anymore-and this isn’t a bad thing.

Not being a kid any more means I read the books I want and not the books I feel I should read. It means not wasting my time at events I don’t need to attend when I’d rather be with family and friends.

When I see my hair in the mirror,it’s a reminder that my time is not infinite(无限的)and I should spend it doing what matters.

There’s nothing shameful about growing older. So I stopped coloring my hair. I see gray hair as my “flag” now and I’m letting it fly, proudly.

1. Does the writer think it’s a bad thing that she’s not a kid anymore?

2. How often did the writer color her hair in the past?

3. What does the writer think of her gray hair after stopping coloring it?
