Mary and I
Hello! My name is Sara and I’m thirteen years old. I’m from Spain. My best friend is Mary. She is from Poland and one year older than me. She came to Spain with her family five years ago. 【推荐2】In the future, we could all work and live in buildings with their own ecosystems (生态系统). They are made to produce more energy than they use.
Toby is an engineer from Europe. He has now made wonderful models, showing what this new building could look like.
He said he was suggested by a kind of tree to create the towers. The Hyperion, found in Northern California, is the tallest tree in the world, reaching 115m. The buildings will be 120m high and have 1,000 homes, offices and working spaces, gyms, restaurants and swimming pools.
Because of the ecosystems, the buildings will also make fewer diseases.
The buildings will have city farms and small animal farms producing eggs and milk. "Farming can bring methane (甲烷) that produces energy, and then the energy is supplied to homes," said Toby.
Toby has had many excellent designs (设计). At the end of last year, he also showed designs for eco-friendly (环保的) ocean buildings.
The eco-friendly buildings don't need coal or oil as they produce their own energy and heat.

Give your dead batteries a new life. Recycle them! ![]() ![]() Batteries(电池) are used to power clocks, computers, tools and more. However, your batteries have some serious power when their lives are over. ![]()
![]() Remember, batteries are harmful waste. This means we should properly throw them away. You may not think one little battery can cause that much pollution. But don't think of it as just one battery—there can be millions. In Canada, each person uses about 20 single-use batteries every year. That's about 700 million batteries! If all these batteries end up in landfills(垃圾填埋场), the heavy metals inside them can get into the water, land and air. It can be harmful to humans and wildlife. By recycling single-use batteries instead of throwing them away, you can cut down pollution and also help save energy. All batteries are mainly made of plastic and valuable metals. Through recycling programs, dead batteries can be changed into something useful like steel products, or even new batteries! ![]()
