The train is powered by lithium batteries (锂电池) instead of electricity. It is not only energy-saving but also environmentally friendly compared to other trains. Each coach (车厢) will be able to carry up to 120 passengers.

The train has done its test without any problem a short time ago. But further tests will be done to check the train’s ability to turn and climb up the tracks before it can be open to the public.

Chengdu is the first city in our country to build such a train system, and Shanghai will also open one this year. Shanghai started plans for its “Skytrain” in 2015．

The “Skytrain” in Shanghai will run above the ground at a height of around six meters. The columns (柱) which will support the railway will be just 80 cm wide. The columns are so narrow that they could even be built in the green belt in the middle of the road. The train Shanghai plans to use will have just four coaches, and each coach will hold 70 passengers. The train will run at around 30 kilometers per hour. It will be a little slower than the city’s sub way trains, which run between 30 and 40 kilometers per hour.

“Skytrain” would cost about 120 to 150 million yuan to build. Developers said the train system will carry around 15,000 passengers every hour. The space-saving train system would run silently through the city.

Since the hotpot-themed bus is popular, there will probably be more buses with different themes on the roads in Chengdu in the near future.

【推荐1】Healthy eating doesn’t just mean what you eat, but how you eat. Here is some advice on healthy eating.

Eat with others. It can help you to see others’ healthy eating habits (习惯). If you usually eat with your parents, you will find that the food you eat is more delicious.

Listen to your body. Ask yourself if you are really hungry. Have a glass of water to see if you are thirsty—sometimes you are just thirsty; you need no food. Stop eating before you feel full（饱的).

Eat breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Without eating during (在……期间) the past ten hours, your body needs food to get you going. You will be smarter after eating breakfast.

Eat healthy snacks (零食) like fruit, yogurt (酸奶) or cheese. We need snacks sometimes. In fact, it’s a good idea to eat healthy snacks between your three meals. This doesn’t mean that you can eat a bag of chips instead of (代替) a meal.

Don’t eat dinner late. In our busy life, we always put off (推迟) eating dinner until the last moment. Try to eat dinner at least 3 hours before you go to bed. This will give your body a chance to digest most of the food before you rest for the next eight to ten hours.

Another method of getting water is to cover a green plant with a plastic bag. As it breathes, the water vapor will collect inside the bag. Little by little, you can collect enough water to drink.

Wear clothing in light color. It may seem like you'll be cooler if you wear that kind of clothes, which actually helps your body to become cool and helps protect you from sunburn.

In China, I had English classes five times a week since fifth grade. However, I didn’t know how different between textbook English and everyday English until I came to Hotchkiss School, Connecticut.

When I first studied English, I was told to say, “I am fine.” when people say “How are you?” But in the US, I found that people say, “I am good.” or “I am tired.”

One day, someone greeted me with “What’s up?” It made me confused（困惑的）. I thought for a moment and then smiled because I didn't know what to say.

Since then, I have discovered more and more differences between Chinese and US cultures. To my surprise, US girls spend a lot of time in the burning sun to get a tan. However, in China, girls try every possible way to get their skin paler, or “whiter.”

I also surprised by how hard-working. In China, schoolwork is almost everything, so we study hard. But here, a “good” student gets good grades, does a lot for the public and plays sports or music.

The kids here are so talented, I feel sorry that I gave up playing the piano at an early age and that I have never thought about sports.
