It could almost be an act from a funny cartoon: A marmot (土拨鼠) jumps up with its mouth open in great surprise and stands on one foot. What was happening to the little one? A fox (狐狸) drew close silently from behind and was about to catch it!
This amazing picture, named "The Moment" was taken by Chinese photographer Yongqing Bao. It has won him the prize as Wildlife Photographer of the Year. He took the picture on a grassland in China's Qilian Mountains in early spring.
People say it's a powerful picture of both humor and horror! It includes the fun and danger of nature. For a photograph, it is quite simply the perfect moment.
In fact, Bao had watched the two animals for some time. Around an hour earlier before he caught the act, the marmot had noticed the fox. But it didn't find the fox lie low and still. Believing there was no risk of being seen, the marmot finally came out to find food. In a very short while, the fox ran forward. Thanks to his quick response (反应),Bao was able to record nature's final match—a fight for living.

Nearly 30 years ago, 6-year-old Elisha was just getting off the school bus. There was a big smile on the little girl’s face, but the next moment it was gone.
A driver failed to see the flashing (闪光) red lights and went past the school bus and hit Elisha.

Hawk
I don’t like cartoons, even when I was a kid. They are really boring. I don’t like the music, the characters and their unnatural (不自然的) voices. I still think it’s a waste (浪费) of time. Most of my free time, I’m on my computer playing games.
Daniel
My daughter Josie loves cartoons. She is good at drawing, and she even draws her own cartoon characters. I watch cartoons sometimes with her. Some of them are interesting like SpongeBob SquarePants and Courage the Cowardly Dog. Then there are some that are quite strange like Invader Zim.

Cartoons are great because you don’t need to think. It’s not like the movies such as The Da Vinci Code and Inception where you always want to ask “What’s happening?” My favourite cartoon is SpongeBob SquarePants.

Some villages were trying to do something to help the farmers make more money. They needed a way to attract tourists and then the rice field art came into being. During the first few years, the farmers created simple pictures. Later they were able to make more complex (复杂的) ones.
Every April, the villagers meet and decide what to plant for the year. Before planting, farmers make the pictures on computers to work out where and how to plant the rice. After that, farmers plant different kinds of rice in different areas of fields. When rice grows tall, different colors will come out in the fields.

NASA has developed a “lunar backpack” for future astronauts on the moon. The backpack could give astronauts the ability to create a 3D map of the surface of the moon, according to the Daily Mail.
Remote sensing in the backpack uses light detection(检测)and ranging laser (测距激光) light to measure range. It makes use of an innovative type of scanner to provide the range of millions of measurement points per second. These measurement points instantly create a real-time navigation system, delivering a 3D high-resolution map of the surrounding terrain (地形), according to NASA.
The backpack will ensure the safety of astronauts and rover (探测器) vehicles in the GPS-denied environment of the moon. It can identify distances to far-off landmarks and show explorers in real time how far they’ve come and how far is left to go to reach their destination, Michael Zanetti, project lead of the backpack, said in a statement.

The tourists thought that the baby bison looked cold. They put it in their car and drove to a park ranger (管理员) station.
A ranger described the action of the tourists as a “dangerous move” because adult bisons can look after their babies very well and they will attack (攻击) to protect their young.
Park rangers took the animal from the car and set it free. But, sadly, the baby was refused by its family because it had the smell from humans.
Yellowstone National Park explained on Facebook that the smell from people can cause parent animals to refuse to accept their young. The park tried again and again to make the baby bison lives with its parents. After several times they had to give up.
Many people expressed anger at both the tourists and the park.
The park said that they did not have the ability to care for a young bison. They also said that it is “not the task of the park to save animals”.
The tourists were fined (罚款) $110 for touching park wildlife. Park rules say that visitors to Yellowstone should stay at least 22 meters away from all wildlife, and at least 90 meters away from bears and wolves.
One ranger said that Yellowstone recently added many safety signs that say staying near the wildlife there is dangerous to humans and animals as well. Those signs are written in English and other languages.

Hangzhou, together with five other cities in Zhejiang, hosted the 19th Asian Games from Sept. 23 to Oct. 8. The Games was very “smart” with the use of many exciting technologies. Let’s have a look!
What if there was an accident during the game and the players needed first aid? Drones (无人机) could be used to send things over. Using a drone saves about 60 percent of the time. Medicine, blood and other things needed for first aid can be sent to people quickly.
Every dish at the Asian Games should be safe and healthy. In the kitchen of the athletes’ village in Hangzhou, there was a special system (系统) that could tell people’s faces. If a “stranger” went into the kitchen, an alarm would go off to let people know. The managers of the kitchen would also get messages on their phones. There is also a system to keep an eye on the temperature of the fridge.
Say that you were in Hangzhou and would watch one of the games. It would be sad if you couldn’t find your way. AR (增强现实技术) was here to help you. There is a mini program called the Hangzhou Asian Games AR service. You could turn on your phone’s camera and it would see where you were and then showed you the way.
