Do you want a pet, but worry about taking care of it? Aibo might be a good choice for you. Aibo is a robot(机器人) dog. It is made by Sony. It isn’t as difficult to take care of as a real pet.
Aibo’s artificial intelligence(人工智能) makes it act like a real dog. It can wag(摇摆) its tail, shake your hand and play a ball. Aibo can move its ears back and forth. It can also blink(眨眼) its eyes. There are sensors(传感器) on Aibo’s head, chin(下巴) and back. When you touch it, it feels comforted(得到安慰的) like a real pet would. Aibo can understand different words, such as “sit”, “stay”, and “come”.
Another interesting thing about Aibo is that it can “learn”. The robot can remember its daily experiences. This helps it build a database(数据库). The robot can “grow” and change itself according to this database. Over time, Aibo can have its own personality(性格). This makes it more like a real pet.

A US company built a life-like robotic dolphin. It acts robotic dolphin and sounds like a real dolphin. It can swim for 10 hours on a single charge (充电). During tests, people can hardly tell the dolphin is a robot and not real.
The company is now bringing these robotic dolphins to the public. It hopes these dolphins will take the place of real dolphins in ocean parks. Besides dolphins, the company wants to create Great White Sharks and some other animals for ocean parks.
In fact, people who want to protect animals are talking more about the influence of keeping wild animals in parks. The animals have to perform (表演) for visitors many times a day, as well as go through training programs. People around the world are doing more to protect wild animals. Parks and circuses (马戏团) in 20 European countries cannot have wild animal shows anymore. Ocean parks in France can no longer have dolphin shows as of Sep 29. Animal rights groups say the move is “a historical victory”.

It is believed the envelope first appeared in ancient China. It was used to protect royal messages. However, the early envelope was nothing like what we use today. It was made from clay and looked like a ball. After the message was put into it, the envelope would be sealed(密封) with more clay. To read the message, one had to break the “envelope”.
The first paper envelope appeared around 200BC. It was also invented by the Chinese. However, at first, people used it only to send money to each other as gifts. It was not until around the seventh century that it was used for sending messages. The design of the early paper envelope was very simple. It was just a sheet of paper folded and sealed with wax(蜡). Since the envelope was made completely by hand, it was very expensive.
In the 19th century, printing and manufacturing methods improved greatly. In 1853, American inventor Russel Hawes invented an envelope maker. The machine could produce about 12,500 envelopes every day. With these improvements, the cost of envelopes went down. The design also became more complex.
Today, emails have become more popular than handwritten letters. However, billions of envelopes are used around the world every year. They are still part of modern life.

I jump from spaceships and as I fall, I turn, dive, circle and dance until I softly land as close as I can to the finishing line. Robot competitions in the 23rd century are truly a popular sport. Fans from all over China watch their hand-held TVs when a competition comes on. Last time I took part in the 78th Olympics and I won the silver medal for my performance.
This year I was very proud to be chosen again. I wanted to meet robots from other countries and explore ideas about our sport. However, my programmer fell ill the week before we were leaving. It was very painful for her and I felt very scared. I didn't feel so confident that I would win.
The day of the competition was rather cold for my legs and my special oil began to freeze. I stopped for a moment (which I shouldn't) before I jumped from the starting place on a little spaceship, then I began my performance. At the correct moment I tried to open my parachute (降落伞) but there was a problem. It only opened a little. I began to fall faster and faster so that I could not turn, dive, circle or dance. My heart stopped beating as I landed heavily on a mountain covered with snow.
This is why I am writing to you from my hospital bed with two broken legs and a weak head. I did not win anything at the Olympics after all. I need the factory to build me new legs and an even bigger head. Then I will be able to compete once more. Let's hope for greater success in the next Olympics!

Be calm (冷静). Sometimes, you feel so angry that you really want to teach somebody a lesson. But being angry can’t solve problems. Neither can a fight. Instead, it may bring you more problems. In the school, everyone involved(卷入) in a fight will be punished, no matter who started it. There are no winners in a fight.
Shout loudly. If you know someone is coming up behind you to attack(攻击), turn toward the person with your hands up in front of your body and loudly say “stop” before walking away. Loud voice can make the attacker calm down. If the person doesn’t stop, cry for help by calling out the name of a teacher whose office is nearby.
Learn to refuse. Your friend may ask you to join in a fight. Learn to say no. Helping him fight is not really helpful to him. If you really want to give him a hand, try to ask him to give it up. Also, you can tell him if he gets involved in a fight, he may get hurt and be punished. Then, try to learn why he wants a fight and help him find a right way to deal with the problem.

Many people know LEGO bricks allow users to build things that don’t fall apart easily. This ability is called “clutch power”. The LEGO bricks are made from a kind of plastic called ABS. ABS plastic makes LEGO bricks very tough (坚固的), and gives them great clutch power.
Sadly, ABS plastic can’t be recycled. That’s a big problem. There is a large plastic waste problem in the world. Yet LEGO makes about 110 billion bricks every year.
But since 2015, LEGO has made an effort to make their products more earth-friendly. Three years ago, the company began making some LEGO parts, like trees, out of a plastic made from sugar cane (甘蔗). Recently, LEGO started using paper bags instead of plastic to reduce waste.
But making bricks out of recycled plastic is a big challenge. The goal is to make bricks out of PET plastic, which is softer than ABS plastic and can be found in things like bottles and clothing. Over the last three years, the company has tested hundreds of ways. Now, they’ve found a way to make a good brick from PET.
The LEGO Group’s goal is to add colors to the bricks which are just white now. The company also aims to make all of their main products out of recycled materials by the year 2030.
“We know kids care about the environment,” said Tim Brooks, a leader at LEGO, “so we want to let kids know we’re working on it.”
