5 . It was Thursday afternoon. All the students were sitting quietly in the classroom with heavy rain outside. Miss Green, the English teacher, was reading a newspaper for them. “Were you in an old people’s home? How did you feel?” Miss Green stopped and looked around. Then, she continued: “The old people’s home is asking for money for old people’s clothes. Winter is coming. More clothes are needed to keep old people warm.”
After Miss Green read the story, she asked the students if there were some good ways to help those old people. “Well, I think we can ask our parents for money to give it to the old people’s home.” One boy said. Miss Green just listened without any words. “We can bring our parents old clothes for them. That costs nothing. Besides, we can also bring some cookies made by ourselves for old people. I think they will be happy to see the food.” Another girl said. Miss Green smiled this time. Then she said: “Can you make cookies?” “Of course!” “Let’s make cookies tomorrow afternoon.” Two days later, Miss Green took her students to the old people’s home with clothes and cookies made by the kids.
A few days later, Miss Green read another story to the class. “Some students were so kind to bring clothes to the old people. They even made delicious cookies by themselves for the old people. The old people have never eaten such great cookies. Thank You!”
