4 . Since its opening in 2018, the Yuanshan Charity Foundation (YCF) has been depending on the Internet to support the schools in West China areas. They hope that children in the western areas of China can get the same education as other children.
There is a young girl named Zhuoma in Qinghai Province. Her dream is to study law and become a judge(法官). In that area people usually speak Tibetan. That means Zhuoma has to learn both Chinese and English because they are very important in the test. But Zhuoma’s hometown is short of good middle school English teachers, which is a problem for her and her classmates.
In 2019, YCF opened English double-teaching classes for many western schools, including Zhuoma’s school. A teacher named Yin Chaoyang from YCF, together with Zhuoma’s teacher, provided the children with better English lessons. Teacher Yin’s classes were full of useful knowledge. Zhuoma liked them very much. She was very active in her studies, so she made great progress. Now Zhuoma is a law student in the Law Department of Nanchang University(大学).
In 2020, four more students from Zhuoma’s high school successfully went to their favorite universities with the help of double-teaching English lessons. YCF was very happy to see their dreams come true.
In China, there are still many schools like Zhuoma’s middle school. For the students there, some subjects are always weak and they need help and support. With more and more people joining in the project, I’m sure that the future of many children will be better.

8 . Pick up in the rain
One night in 1965, an African American woman got caught in a storm in her car on an Alabama highway. It was raining very heavily. The thunder roared(吼叫)like a lion. The lightning lit up the world! The earth trembled(颤抖)and shook.
The woman didn’t look for shelter(避难所). Instead, she drove on. She seemed to be in a big hurry. Suddenly her car broke down. It was at 11:30 pm! She stood on the side of the highway, desperately(绝望地)needing a ride. She was wet through. A car passed by but didn’t stop. The helpless woman had to flag down(挥手使停车)the next car.
At last a young white man stopped to help her. This was generally unheard of in those days as there was conflict(冲突)between black and white people. The man took her to safety, helped her and put her into a taxi. She wrote down his address, thanked him, and left in a hurry.
Seven days went by and a knock came on the man’s door. To his surprise, a giant color TV was delivered(运送)to his home. A special note was attached. It read:
Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched(浸透)not only my clothes but my spirits. Then you came along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband’s bed side just before he passed away. God bless you for helping me and serving others.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Nat King Cole
The woman had in fact been the wife of the famous musical artist, Nat King Cole.
