1 . Boys and girls, do you usually take many ways of getting to school because of different distances (距离) between the school and your home? Here are four ways for American students to go to school.
In America, people like school buses, and they can see a lot of yellow buses running on and off the streets on school days. These buses send children to school in the morning. Then they take the students home in the afternoon.
Students in America also like to ride a bike to school. But they must wear helmets (头盔) to keep safe (安全的). Their City Government (政府) tells students to go to school by bike. Scott Stringer thinks it is very useful for students to keep healthy.
What about taking a bus to school? It’s a cheap way for children in the USA. But the buses in America don’t stop at every stop. Students get to their stops and they need to tell the driver. Then the driver stops the bus at the stop.
Many American families have cars. But parents only drive their children to school on rainy or snowy days. Some of them do this because they live far away from school.

Take three deep breaths or count slowly to 10.You need to understand big feelings are very normal but your actions caused by these feelings will bring results. Taking a few deep breaths or slowly counting to 10 can give you time to realize your body’s warning signs—whether you have a tense (紧绷的) body or clenched (咬紧的) teeth.
Use your words to say how you feel and what you wish would happen.Saying what you wish for helps you open a problem-solving conversation. Of course, your wish won’t always be an acceptable solution for all parties, but you can work out a more peaceful solution together with whom you are angry.
Ask for help to solve the problem. It is okay to ask for help when you don’t feel that you can solve the problem alone. Asking your parents or teachers for advice may help you find better ways.
Take the time you need to calm down.Sometimes you may still feel angry or upset even having worked through each of the above steps. In these situations it is often better to walk away or to find another safe way to deal with those feelings. Several days later, you may not feel as strongly about what happened.

Surprisingly, “jackfruit” isn’t a person’s name at all. The fruit’s name first comes from the southern Indian word chakka pazham, with India thought to be the fruit’s place of origin (起源). Portuguese explorers (葡萄牙探险家) who came to this area went on to call it jaca. It leads us to the now English name of jackfruit according to NPR. Unluckily, no one called Jack has been proven (证明) to have anything to do with it.
There is another food, however, that was directly (直接地) named after a person—the sandwich. In the 18th century, playing card games late into the night became popular in British high society. John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, started the habit of ordering pieces of cold beef between two pieces of bread. This was meant to be a late-night snack without having to leave the gaming table or use a knife and fork.
Away from the world of food, there are more examples of names inspired by people. So, the next time you find an interesting name in the English language, why not explore its history?

In the 1970s, an American engineer called Herb Kem noticed that in spring and summer he was happy and had a lot of energy, but every winter he became unhappy and lazy. He thought it was because there wasn’t much daylight in winter. He asked some scientists to make a light box. He put it on his desk and after a few days he felt a lot better. The scientists gave his illness a name—Seasonal Affective Disorder (季节性情绪失调), SAD.
Actually, SAD also known as winter blues affects many people every year. In the United States about 6%~20% of people have SAD. And it is also very common in other countries like the UK and Sweden. They may get SAD in autumn and winter especially when the days are shorter and there is less daylight.
Anyone can get SAD, but it’s more common among:

•People who have a close relative (亲属) with SAD.
•People who live far from the equator (赤道), where winter daylight hours are very short.
People with SAD usually sleep a lot and feel tired all the time. They also eat a lot of sweet food and feel unhappy.
