1 . There are nearly 1,7000 kinds of butterflies in total in the world. As for the ladybugs, the kinds of them are about 5,000. And the ladybugs come in many different colors like blue, yellow, white, orange and black.

In many cultures, people think ladybugs can bring good luck. Most people like them because they are beautiful and not bad for people’s health. But farmers love them because they eat plant-eating insects. One ladybug can eat up to 5,000 small insects in its lifetime!

Ladybugs are colourful for a reason. Their colors tell other animals,“Eat something else! I taste terrible.”

Ladybugs are happy in many different habitats, such as forests, cities and along rivers.

Ladybugs like to keep warm. When the weather turns cold, they look for a warm place to hibernate（冬眠）, such as inside houses.

Though most ladybugs eat small insects, a few kinds eat plants.

Ladybugs will clean themselves after a meal.

There are more than 400 kinds of ladybugs in North America.

2 . People do different activities in different seasons in China. In spring, children in Shandong Province usually fly kites. In Hainan Province, Children go swimming, In Shanghai, thousands of people take part in the spring marathon.

People around China like doing all kinds of water sports in summer. In Xiamen, young people often play beach volleyball. In Anhui Province, students row along the Yangtze River.

Autumn brings fine days and cool temperatures. In Shaanxi Province, teachers and students climb Mount Hua, People from all over the world fake pert in the Tour of Qinghai Lake Bicycle Race in Qinghai Province.

In winter, children in Harbin go skating. In Dalian, old men go swimming in the icy-cold water.

3 . Many people (人们) like to travel (旅行) by plane, but I don’t like it because an airport (飞机场) is usually far from the city. You have to get there early and wait for (等待) hours for the plane to take off (起飞) and it is often late. You can’t open the windows. You can’t choose (选择) the food. Planes are fast, but they still take hours to go out of the airport and into the city.

I like traveling by train. I think trains are safe. Railway stations are usually in cities. When you are late (晚的) for a train, you can catch another one. You can walk around in the train and open the windows. You can see many interesting things on your way. I know it takes a little more time.

I also like cars. You can start your journey (旅行) when you want to, and you don’t need to get to a railway station or a bus stop. Also you can carry many things with you in a car. But sometimes there are too many cars on the road.

I and many other people in Britain love charity (慈善) shops because we can find them on every street. The charity shops sell all kinds of things and they are very cheap.

The first charity shop was opened by Oxfam in 1947. Now there are over 7,000 charity shops in the UK. My favorite charity shop in my hometown is the Red Cross Shop. There I always find children’s books, all 10 to 20 pence each. They are really cheap.

Most of the shop workers in charity shops are volunteers, though each shop has a manager and he gets some money. Every morning you see bags of things outside the shops. Some people bring and put them there without waiting for thanks. In fact, over 90% of the things in charity shops are from kind people.

3.All the money the shops get goes to charity work. Charity shops raise more than 110 million pounds every year. The money is for sick and poor children, homeless and disabled people, and many others. In a charity shop you can get cheap but nice things. You might even feel special while shopping.

4. If possible, let’s do something for charity together.

8 . The 24th Beijing Winter Olympics will begin on 4th February, 2022. The Winter Paralympics(残奥会) will begin a month later. Let’s meet the mascots!

I’m Bing Dwen Dwen. I’m the mascot(吉祥物) of the 2022 Winter Olympics. I am a black and white panda wearing a full-body ”shell” made of ice. The red heart shape in my left palm(手心) means welcoming the friends from other countries. The bright colors of the circles around my face stand for ice and snow sports tracks, meaning connectivity and advanced technologies. I look like an astronaut, making full use of new technologies for a future with all kinds of possibilities.

Shuey Rhon Rhon is here! I’m the mascot of the 2022 Winter Paralympics. What do you think of when you see me? Does a red lantern come into your mind? That’s what I look like. Take a look at my head. There are paper cuttings of doves(鸽子). They make up a circle. Follow me. I’ll light the way to the Paralympics.

9 . Bill is from Australia. He lives in Sydney. He can speak French and English, but he can’t speak Chinese. He has a pen pal in the United States. Her name is Lisa and she lives in New York. Bill’s favorite sport is basketball and he can play the guitar. Lisa’s favorite sport is tennis. She can’t play the guitar, but she can play the piano and sing very well.

10 . When you travel in Hong Kong SAR, you must be careful of the traffic rules, because the traffic(交通)keeps to the left. Before crossing the street, you must look to the right and then to the left. If the traffic lights are red, the traffic must stop, and people can go across the zebra line(斑马线). If the traffic lights turn green, the traffic can go, and people mustn’t cross the road.

In the morning and in the evening, when people go to or come from work, the streets are very busy. The traffic is the most dangerous. When you go somewhere by bus in Hong Kong SAR, you have to be careful, too. Always remember the traffic keeps to the left. Have a look first, or you may go the wrong way. In Hong Kong SAR, there are a lot of big buses with two floors. You’d better sit on the second floor. From there you can watch the city very well. How interesting!
