1 . Hi, I’m Jenny! I’m in No. 15 Middle School. We have a good school library. The school library is big and nice. It has 50 chairs. The chairs are white. I like the color. On the wall are some photos of the school. The library has 100 blue bookcases. Many books are in the bookcases. I like to read(读) books in the library. My favorite books are about sports. There is a Lost and Found box in the library. It’s yellow. I lost my pencil box. Ms. Smith tells(告诉) me my pencil box is in the Lost and Found box.

5 . In many English homes, people have four meals(餐) a day: breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

People have breakfast from 7:00 to 9:00 in the morning. They eat eggs or bread. English people drink tea or milk for breakfast, too. Lunch comes at about 13:00. Afternoon tea is from 16:00 to 17:00, and dinner is at about 19:30. They often have soup(汤), and they have some chicken or fish with vegetables. Then they eat some bananas, apples or oranges. But not all English people have meals like that. Some of them don’t have their dinners in the evening.

Every country has its own way of saying things—its own special expressions (表达). Many everyday American expressions are based on (基于) colours.

Red is a hot colour. Americans often use it to express heat. When people use “red hot”, they want to say that they are very angry about something.

Pink is a lighter kind of red. People sometimes say they are “in the pink” when they are in good health. It probably comes from the fact that many babies are born with a nice pink colour that shows they are healthy.

Blue is a cool colour. Blue is slow and sad. Someone who is blue is very sad.

The colour green is natural (天然的) for trees and grass. But it is an unnatural colour for humans. A person who has a sick﹣feeling stomach may say he feels “a little green”. A passenger (乘客) on a boat who feels sick may look very green.

The colour black is used often in expressions. People describe (描述) a day in which everything goes wrong as “a black day”.

8 . There are many different ways to go to school in the world. Some children go to school on foot in Munich. In Alaska., USA, it snows a lot. Some kids go to school by sled. It’s fast. Some children in Beijing go to school by subway every day. In Papa Westray, Scotland, the children go to school by ferry. But in 2009, they went to school by plane because the ferry didn’t work.

9 . This is my school. There are many plants, like trees and flowers. The teaching building is big and tall. There is a big playground in our school. It’s very nice to have it. After 4: 30 in the afternoon, many students come to the playground to play football and some students play table tennis in the table tennis room.

There are over 1, 200 students in 30 classes in our school. The students all like to study. The teachers in our school are very good. They help the students to study. They also listen to the students troubles and find ways to solve (解决) them. All the students like them.

10 . Many English people have three names. They are the first name, the middle name and the last name. Actually, the last name is the family name, and the first name and the middle name are given names.

For example, my name is Jenny Allen Brown. Jenny is my first name. Allen is my middle name. Brown is my last name. My friends often call me Jenny. My teachers often call me Jenny Brown.

In China, the family name comes first. For example, my friend is Zhang Liang. Zhang is his family name, and Liang is his given name. People often use Mr., Mrs. or Miss before the family name.
