3 . James Madison University (JMU) offers different languages to learn, from French to Ancient Greek and Italian. Spanish is one of the most useful languages to learn.
Spanish (西班牙语) is the second most spoken language in the world. Around 460 million speakers use it as the first language. It’s the official language of over 20 countries, and in the United States, there are 41 million speakers. Those facts give you the perfect reason to learn Spanish as an international language. One of the best reasons to learn Spanish is that one can make it more possible to find a job. There’s a place for Spanish in every career (生涯) field. Doctors will have patients that speak Spanish, traders will buy things from Latin American companies and reporters will provide news written in Spanish.
Spanish is known as the starting for learning other Romance languages. Many of the words and phrases used in Italian, French and Latin are similar to each other. For example, the Italian word for “thank you” is “grazie” and the Spanish word for “thank you” is “gracias”. The Portuguese (葡萄牙语) word for “hello” is “olá”, and the Spanish word for “hello” is “hola”.
There are so many amazing methods for learning Spanish. A popular method that most people use is the app Duolingo because it’s convenient and great. A similar method is listening to a podcast (播客), like Coffee Break Spanish that prepares for different Spanish levels. Neither of these can break the bank because they’re free (免费的).
JMU also offers chances to practice Spanish speaking. The Spanish Club meets every week to discuss culture, practice speaking Spanish and plan events. The Foreign Language Department organizes language tables where students can practice conversations in Spanish with other students. Signa Delta Pi is a Spanish honor society for students who study Spanish.

4 . Getting English Language Learners to Put Down the Books and Have Some Fun Even if there’s so much about English that can be learned from a book or even in a traditional classroom setting, a lot of the language can still be learned best in more relaxing situations where students are having fun. Here are some suggestions.
★ Communicate with strangers. If you live in an area filled with English speakers, get students out of the classroom. 1 Students may not speak to strangers, but they’ll hear conversations taking place and may begin to understand how the words learnt in the classroom are actually used in everyday speech.
★Let their guard down. One difficult thing for learners is confidence(自信)when they speak English. Fun activities, especially those outside of the classroom, give students a chance to feel relaxed. 2 It may take a bit of time at the beginning, but once students get into it, they’ll start to get confidence.
★ Make use of English media(媒体). Most recorded language instruction is pretty boring and it can get tiring hearing the same voice repeat the same phrases. 3 They will hear common expressions and more everyday conversations in the movie. If they’re not sure about something they hear, it can turn into a more formal lesson once back in the classroom.
★ 4 Casual(随意的)conversations give learners the chance to hear or use English in situations. They can talk all they want about expressions to use while dining out or informal words to use with friends, but it takes a trip to McDonald’s or a picnic in the park for many of those expressions to truly set in.
A. You can let students go to a movie in English.
B. Put them among other English speakers.
C. They may hate to speak English.
D. Hear or use English in situations.
E. They will speak more freely.

STUDY HELP
For many tests and exams, you are tested on your abilities to communicate successfully. In order to speak English fluently, you need to think in English. If you don’t, your speech will be slow and it won’t sound natural. Here are some things you can do to practice thinking in English.
Look at objects around your home and school, and think of what they are called in English. Try to make a direct connection between the object and the English word.
When you are out in a public place, practice describing the things and people you see in your mind. For example, think, "There is a man walking down the street. He’s wearing a suit. I think he is going to work. "Try to think in English first, not in your first language.
When you have to say something in English, think first and ask yourself" What words and phrases do I know in English that I can use in this situation? "Try not to think in your first language and translate your ideas into English. If you do, you will get frustrated very quickly.
