My name is Mike. When I was alone at home, I was more excited than afraid.
One day my parents went out for an invitation and left me behind. As I was watching my favourite show on TV excitedly, the lights went off. “What bad luck!” I thought to myself. At that moment, I felt a bit afraid in the dark.
Suddenly I heard a loud knock on the door. I looked through the peephole (猫眼) nervously, but could not see anyone. Then again another loud knock! I immediately called my neighbour who lived on the first floor. He said he was coming in a moment. At the same time, something ran into the room quickly. It looked like some kind of animal, maybe one or two. I ran downstairs to call my neighbour and was relieved (放心的), so we decided to call 119. Soon, the power came back on. The police and the workers from the zoo arrived and caught the monkeys.
My parents hurried back at about ten, and when they heard the whole story, they were happy to see that I was safe and they thanked my neighbour too.

4 . Chinese Farmers’ Harvest (丰收) Festival is the first festival in China for farmers. It shows that our government is paying more attention to farming and farmers’ life. Our government is determined to build a better and more beautiful countryside with pleasant living environments and also a richer life for farmers.
The festival, starting from 2018, falls on Autumn Equinox (秋分) each year. Auturnnal Equinox is one of the 24 solar terms (节气) of the Chinese lunar calendar and usually falls between September 22 and 24, during the country’s harvest season. Though weather and harvest time are not the same in different areas of China, most crops mature (成熟) in autumn. Autumn Equinox is the best time to celebrate harvest.
“The farmers are encouraged to think of their own ways to celebrate harvest,” an official named Han Deng said. “Some activities will be held nationwide, but most of the celebrations will take place at a local level derived from (源于) local customs,” he said, adding that local governments could host different kinds of activities for the festival, such as folk culture performances, food tasting and sightseeing.

As the New Year of 2024 comes, some people love the tradition of making resolutions. So, how can you keep the New Year lag (旗帜) standing? Come to our school hall at 3: 00 this Friday afternoon and listen to a talk by Ms. Ann Smith! ★________ If your New Year’s plan is to exercise five days each week, a plan like “I’ll exercise on weekdays” would be not clear enough. A plan like “I’ll exercise at school on weekdays during my lunch break” would be better. ★ Get a little help from your friends. Tell a few friends about your resolutions. Then if you want to give up at some point, they will be the ones to make you hold on. ★ Make it fun. If it’s not fun to exercise or study, you won’t keep at it easily. But if you get fun from your exercise or study, you’ll keep longer. If you can only drink your favorite juice during study hours or watch your favorite TV show after finishing your homework, you’ll look forward to studying.
