June 15th Today I went on a school trip. We visited the science museum and it was really interesting. We got there so fast by train. We saw some farms and villages along the way. At the museum, I learned a lot about robots. I didn’t know they could play chess with us. It was so cool! Then the guide taught us how to make a model robot. I took a lot of photos, too. After that, I went to the gift shop and bought some lovely gifts for my parents. They weren’t expensive. All in all, it was an exciting day. | June 15th I think today’s school trip was terrible. We took the train to the science museum. It was so hot on the slow train. The museum was big and boring. Everything was about robots and I’m not interested in that. The rooms were really dark and it was difficult to take photos, so I didn’t take any. There were also too many people and I couldn’t really see or hear the guide. The things in the gift shop were so expensive. I didn’t like the trip at all. | ||

Now, it’s getting popular for Chinese people

How do you get to school? Do you walk or ride a bike? Do you go by bus or by car? For many students, it is easy to get to school. But for the students in one small village in China, it is difficult. There is a very big river between their school and the village. There is no bridge and the river runs too quickly for boats. So these students go on a ropeway to cross the river to school.
One 11-year-old boy, Liangliang, crosses the river every school day. But he is not afraid because he loves school. “I love to play with my classmates. And I love my teacher. He’s like a father to me.”
Many of the students never leave the village. It is their dream to have a bridge. Can their dream come true?
1. How do the children in the small village go to school?2. Why do they go to school in this way?
3. How old is Liangliang?
4. Is he afraid to cross the river? Why or why not?
5. What’s the children’s dream?
I’m Lei Chao. I’m 13. I left Shanghai for Beijing by train last year. It was a green train. It was cheap. It only cost (花费) 88 yuan. However, it was very slow. It took me about 22 hours to get to Beijing. |
My name is Liu Xue. I’m 12. How much does it cost to fly from Beijing to Shenzhen? Only 400 yuan! I bought two special offer tickets (特价票) early this year. I went to Shenzhen in the summer holiday with my dad. It was a really cheap trip. |
I’m Wang Wei. I’m 12. My friend and I often travel together. We went on an autumn trip to Langfang from Beijing in October. We transferred (换乘) from one bus to another. After about one and a half hours, we got to Langfang. It only cost us about 20 yuan each. |
