The game of curling(冰壶) is more than five hundred years old. But curling first appeared(出现) in the 1998 Winter Games with both men’s and women’s championships(锦标赛). At the games, two teams play against each other at a time. The game is played on ice, and two teams take turns pushing 19.1-kilogram stones towards several concentric(同心的) rings or circles. Their aim(目标) is to get their stones closest to the center of the rings. One game is made up of 10 “ends”. During each end, each four-person team “throws” eight stones.
